Abstract

Hydrogen peroxide is an important material for bleaching agent in paper production related to the low price and environmentally friendly chemical. The current production of H2O2 is well-known as indirect synthesis, which uses danger anthraquinone. The synthesis was improved by using the direct reaction of H2 and O2 on Pd or PdAu alloy's catalyst surface and has been known as direct synthesis. The current catalyst used is Pd-Au, but it has limited availability in nature. Therefore we need the alternative of Pd-Au. We investigated Ni alloyed with Pd for the new H2O2 direct synthesis catalyst using a density functional theory approach. We selected the O adsorption to screen the catalysts and compared the species adsorption trend on the surfaces of PdNi and the proven catalysts such as Pd, PdAu, and PdHg. Since the trend of O adsorption on the PdAu and PdNi is similar, it can be concluded that the catalytic selectivity of PdNi equal with PdAu. Further, the stability of PdNi alloy was explored by calculating the binding and compared it with Pd, which leads to the conclusion that PdNi can be a good catalyst for H2O2 synthesis.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.17977/um024v5i22020p046

Abstract

Optical Density is one of the important parameters used to control print quality. Optical density in print materials is form of interaction of ink with paper. This research is oriented to the investigation of optical density value of Yellow printing ink on coated and uncoated paper. The main purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of printing ink thickness on optimal density value. The optical density value of yellow prints obtained using densitometer measurement, printed using IGT method on coated and uncoated paper. Ink thickness variations are applied (0.8 - 9.6 μm). Density values was found to increase as the ink layer thickness increased to a certain point called the optimal density (2.4 μm ink thickness on coated paper and 4.5 μm on uncoated paper). Optical density of yellow printing ink on coated paper is higher uncoated paper, which relates to porosity on paper

Abstract

ABSTRACT The Management Information System (MIS) transforms the control system in most of the production processes into automation to achieve the efficiency and effectiveness of production time. If a business is to excel against its competitors, it must be able to meet consumer demand on time, eliminating non-value-added production time and making time spent on activities more efficient. value-added. By researching data by compiling flowcharts and creating tables, authors make direct observations on CV. True printing service. The print production process has machine performance standards which are the standards necessary to determine the capacity of the printing machine. To determine the efficiency of the printing process, it is necessary to know the detailed steps of the process according to the work sequence displayed as a flowchart of the printing process. This flowchart is a key factor in achieving rapid production so that it supports Just In Time (JIT) as the processes in each subsection can be clearly identified. By using a flowchart, any errors that arise in a process can be resolved quickly and correctly so that the results obtained can be optimal and do not interfere with other processes. Therefore, MIS supports the realization of the JIT by facilitating traceability and seeing as early as possible if there is a lack of time and quantity of production. JIT is designed to achieve the most efficient delivery time possible by eliminating all kinds of waste in the production process so that the print production process is optimal. The integration of MIS and JIT is achieved by preparing automatic calculation tables for input, process and output which are the optimal and non-optimal decisions of the printing process.

Abstract

Safety culture is the key in the preventing of accidents and occupational diseases in the work environment and industry. Safety culture must be trained since school, especially vocational high school. The results of the literature state that OHS training taught during formal schools has an effect on decreasing working injury incidence (WIs) when they work in industry. Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) training for Vocational High School students majoring in Graphic Production has never been carried out and even there is no subject. Therefore, the OHS training is expected to become a routine training as a provision and familiarize the safety culture in the schools. The aim of this training is to improve the competence of students in SMKN 7 Jakarta majoring in Graphic Production. The method in this training is carried out online using the media zoom meeting for 3 hours with two meetings. This training begins with a general OSH behavior assessment and then the results of the assessment are used as the basis for developing training materials. The training materials were given to students of SMKN 7 majoring in graphic production for class XI. Prior to the implementation of learning, a pre-test of OHS material and post-test was given to determine if there was a change in knowledge after being given OSH training online. Based on the results, online OHS training activities can increase the knowledge of the Graphic Production Department Vocational High School students. It is hoped that the increase in knowledge will become an attitude and behavior so that safety will become a culture in schools

Abstract

One of the essential resources in management is human resources. The importance of human resources needs to be realized by all levels of management. Schools as a unified education system are expected to provide learning experiences for all students to master competencies by the level of education and the unique mission it carries. However, the lack of human resources allows this service movement to fill the existing problems. The training carried out is the calculation of print production costs. In implementing this community service activity, several methods are used, including observation, interviews, discussions, questionnaires, theory, and practice calculating the cost of print production and ending with an evaluation. There was an increase in students' knowledge from 10% to 83.33% after the training. Suppose the school has difficulty finding teachers/HR according to their competence in teaching print cost calculation subjects. In that case, the school should often provide training from higher education institutions and industry to reduce HR competencies gaps.

Abstract

Although the printing offset technique offered the best printout quality among other printing techniques, however, there is a drawback of the offset technique which needs great skill to handle the process, i.e the presence of trace water molecules on the image area of the plate. The water’s existence in the image area leads to the poor covering of ink which makes the blurry printout than it must be. Therefore, we used various concentrations of propylene glycol such as 0%, 0.05%, and 0.1% as wetting agents to prevent the trace water sticks to the image area of the plate. We used the HVS paper 80 g/m2 as printing material and the machine of Oliver Sakurai 472 ED to study the role of propylene glycol. Propylene glycol has been considered based on stronger interaction with water molecules than the interaction of the image area - propylene glycol. By investigating the visual quality, density, and dot gain of the printout, we concluded that the wetting agent content of PG 0.05% (v/v) increased the visual brightness, and density of the printout, compared to the water only as the wetting solution.
