Abstract

This research aims to elaborate the manifestations of hate and anger of the exile characters in the short stories of Tanah Air and Asmara dan Kematian di Perbatasan Tiga Negara by Martin Aleida. This research used qualitative analysis by using descriptive method. The technique of data collections used library research or content analysis. The result of the study shows that hate and anger of the exile characters in both short stories by Martin Aleida, according to the psychology existential by May divided into two categories. These categories come to animate the story that starring by the characters who deliberately labelled as an exile. There are two types of hate and anger in the exile characters is hate and anger of the regime and hate and anger of their self. In the short story of Tanah Air, the two categories come to affirm the occasion of a phenomenon and in the short story Asmara dan Kematian di Perbatasan Tiga Negara, only one category that begins to build the occasion of the short story. The result that the exile characters reveal their existence by showing hate and anger to the regime.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the motive for the occurrence of violence in the novel Perempuan Kamar by Agus Subakir. This novel is written in Indonesian and includes works of interest. It was firstly published in 2020. The data collection method used in this study is the literature study method. The data of this research are in the form of pieces of texts from works that show violence. The data analysis method used in this research is the descriptive qualitative method. The type of data that will be used in this research is in the form of words, phrases, sentences, and paragraphs that have a direct relationship with the motive for the occurrence of violence in the novel. The results showed that there were two or three motives for the occurrence of violence, namely (1) a sense of hatred towards the victim, (2) an unfulfilled excessive obsession, and (3) a lack of resistance from the victim.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the shift in the nature and role of Minangkabau women in the novel Perempuan Batih by A. R. Rizal. This research uses the structural approach of the Teeuw model. The method used in this research is the qualitative method. Data collection is done through literature study by reading books and writings that have a relationship with the object of research. The types of data that will be used in this study are divided into two, namely primary data and secondary data. The results of the study describe that there is a shift in the nature and role of Minangkabau women in the novel Perempuan Batih which is seen through the depiction of Minangkabau women in the past and the depiction of Minangkabau women now in the novel Perempuan Batih by A. R. Rizal. Minangkabau women used to be described as women who hold fast to customs, are compassionate and loyal, tough and independent, good at cooking, and know the culture of Manggaleh. Minang women are now described as modern women, easily discouraged, and lose their identity. The depiction of Minangkabau women is examined through characterizations.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the inner conflict experienced by the main character Anisa in the novel Perempuan Berkalung Sorban by Abidah El Khalieqy. This is expressed through the form of Anis' character's inner conflict which is depicted in the novel Perempuan Berkalung Turban by Abidah El Khalieqy. This research was conducted by utilizing the theory of literary psychology. This research is qualitative with the direct involvement of researchers in the entire research process starting from problem determination, literature review, data collection and processing, analysis process, and arriving at research conclusions. The results showed that there was a picture of the inner conflict experienced by the main character Anisa, whether carried out by the father, mother or husband as the head of the family and the local community. The forms of verbal violence and physical violence experienced made the psychology of Anisa's character shaken and experienced inner conflict.
