Abstract

The geology of Sulawesi Island, especially the eastern arm, is known to be composed of extensive ultramafic rocks with mineral deposit potential, including nickel laterite. The research area is located at PT. X Siuna, Pagimana District, Banggai Regency, Central Sulawesi Province. This study purpose to determine the characteristics of ultramafic rocks in the study area and to determine the distribution of laterite nickel and the relationship between ultramafik rock characteristics in the study area. The research methods used are field research methods and laboratory analysis (Petrography and XRF Analysis). Field research was conducted to collect field data in the form of rock samples and soil samples where there were 9 stations for rock samples and 4 stations for soil samples. Furthermore, laboratory analysis in the form of petrographic analysis will be carried out to determine the mineral composition of the rock, then XRF (X-Ray Flourescence) analysis is carried out to determine laterite nickel content which is then processed using ArcGIS 10.5 software, then interpolated using the Inverse Distance Weight (IDW) method. Based on the results of field and laboratory analysis, the rock characteristics in the study area have 3 rock types, namely serpentinized peridotite units, serpentinized dunite units and serpentinite units. The three rocks have been serpentinized with intermediate to strong  intensity, the constituent minerals have been dominated by serpentine, opaque mineral, pyroxine, and olivine. Based on IDW interpolation results, the distribution of nickel laterite in the western part of the study area has nickel (Ni) content of 0.50 – 1.2%, while in the southern – eastern part of the research area it has nickel (Ni) content of 0.20 – 0.5%

Abstract

Beberapa indikasi mineralisasi dapat di jumpai di Sulawesi Tengah, salah satunya pada Kecamatan Kasimbar Kabupaten Parigi Moutong Provinsi Sulawesi Tengah. Adanya indikasi mineralisasi emas dicirikan oleh alterasi hidrotermal disekitar sungai Tada tepatnya pada Dusun Kelapatiga dan Maliontovo bagian utara Kecamatan Kasimbar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tipe alterasi berdasarkan petrografi, mineral bijih berdasarkan mineragrafi dan geokimia mineral bijih berdasarkan AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry) serta mengetahui tipe endapan dan model genetik endapan berdasarkan klasifikasi. Kondisi geologi daerah penelitian meliputi geomorfologi satuan bentang alam perbukitan sangat curam, stratigrafi atau litologi yang dijumpai berupa satuan andesit porfiri dan granit kuarsa, serta struktur geologi kekar sistematik dan sesar geser mengiri (sinistral). Alterasi hidrotermal terdiri dari alterasi propilitik dalam (klorit+aktinolit±Feldspar) pada batuan andesit porfiri dan alterasi potasik (biotit+klorit±kuarsa) pada batuan granit kuarsa. Berdasarkan hasil mineragrafi indikasi mineral bijih berupa pirit (FeS2), kalkopirit (CuFeS2), sphalerit (ZnS) dan kovelit (CuS) sedangkan emas (Au) di jumpai pada soil hasil lapukan granit kuarsa. Hasil dari geokimia sampel batuan, soil dan aluvial dijumpai kadar emas (Au) mempunyai kadar <0,6-1,5 ppm, perak (Ag) <7 ppm, tembaga (Cu) 10-144 ppm, timbal (Pb) 12-42 ppm, dan besi (Fe) 0,27-4,72 ppm. Berdasarkan tipe alterasi dan mineralisasi bijih maka tipe endapan emas termasuk epitermal sulfidasi tinggi yang dikontrol oleh litologi dan struktur geologi.

Abstract

Kromit sangat dibutuhkan dalam industri konstruksi sebagai agen anti-korosi dan pemberi kesan mengkilap untuk pembuatan stainless steels, campuran baja, baja cor, dan besi cor. PT.X yang berlokasi di daerah Wosu memiliki potensi mineral kromit yang perlu diteliti lebih lanjut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kontrol geologi pembentukan mineral kromit, karakteristik dan potensi mineral kromit di daerah penelitian. Metode yang digunakan yaitu metode pemetaan geologi permukaan dan bawah permukaan. Pemetaan geologi permukaan meliputi aspek geomorfologi, stratigrafi, dan struktur geologi. Pemetaan bawah permukaan menggunakan metode pemboran. Mineral kromit pada daerah penelitian dikontrol oleh aspek geologi yaitu geomorfologi berupa pelapukan, erosi dan sedimentasi dimana pada daerah-daerah yang relatif datar sebagai tempat terakumulasinya material hasil dari proses geomorfologi tersebut. Karakteristik mineral kromit pada daerah penelitian berwarna hitam dan mempunyai bentuk mineral rounded. Hasil perhitungan cadangan ditemukan jumlah cadangan sebesar 14.294 ton, jumlah cadangan dibagi menjadi dua grade yaitu grade 1 (100% Cr2O3) sebesar 4.084 Ton dan grade 2 (40%Cr2O3) sebesar 10.210 ton.

Abstract

Ultramafic rocks are found in Sigi district in the Kamarora and Winatu areas but are not mentioned in the regional geology of the Poso sheet and the Pasangkayu sheet so that it is interesting to investigate further. Therefore, it is important to conduct this research to determine the characteristics and processes of ultramafic rock formation in the Kamarora and Winatu areas of Sigi district using the Petrographic and X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) methods. The results of this study are based on petrographic analysis of two rock samples in Kamarora Village containing olivine (60-55%), omphasite (15-10%), enstatite (5%), serpentine (10%), garnet (15-10%) ) and chlorite (5%) with the rock name lherzolite, while one rock sample in Winatu Village contained serpentine minerals (75%), olivine (15%), omphasite (5%), enstasite (5%) with serpentine rock names. The chemical composition and percentage of each element of the samples analyzed by XRF stations ST01K, ST02K, ST01W are as follows: major element SiO2 (40 – 41.1 wt %), Al2O3 (2.90 – 19.6 wt %), Fe2O3 (7 – 9.98 wt %), MgO (17 – 33.7 wt %), CaO (11.30 – 12.4 wt %), Na2O (0.147–2.11 wt %), K2O (0.0558 – 0.234 wt %) and minor elements with a content range of TiO2 (0.104 – 0.965 wt %), MnO (0.102 – 0.145 wt%), SO3 (0.0719 – 0.259 wt %), Cl ( 0.0954 – 0.360 wt %), NiO (0.0272 – 0.307 wt %), Cr2O3 (0.111 – 0.403 wt %), Co2O3 (0.0246 wt %), WO3 (0.0563 – 0.0661 wt %). Rocks formed in the type of tholeiite magma, this type of magma has a low potassium content, usually formed in subduction and non-subduction areas. Based on the results of the plot on the Pearce et al (1976) diagram, it is known that the tectonic order of rock formation is on the ocean ridge and floor or the expansion of the ocean floor.
