Abstract

Abstract: This research is motivated by the many movements carried out by student institutions that criticize the policies of the Riau provincial government in dealing with forest and land fires (illegal logging) in Riau. The formulation of the problem in this study are, What is the perception of Riau university students towards the G17S conducted by the PTN-PTS BEM in Pekanbaru, What is the most dominant factor that gave birth to G17S movement conducted by BEM PTN-PTS in Pekanbaru. The research objectives are, This study aims to determine the perception of Riau University students towards the G17S movement conducted by BEM PTN-PTS in Pekanbaru, To find out the dominant factor that gave birth to G17S movement conducted by BEM PTN-PTS in Pekanbaru. This research method is descriptive quantitative, the data collection instrument used in this research is a questionnaire and also an interview consisting of 16 indicators with 26 questions, will then be analyzed by the combination method (mix method). The sample in this study was taken using a purposive sampling technique. Based on the results of the average percentage value of the respondents' alternative answers "strongly agree" and "agree" that is equal to 77.5% with an existence in the range of 75.01%-100%. Thus, students' perceptions of G17S conducted by BEM PTN-PTS in Pekanbaru are "Very Good". And the most dominant factor giving birth to G17S conducted by BEM PTN-PTS in Pekanbaru is social conditions with a percentage of 65% of respondents answering "strongly agree".Key Words: perception, student, G17S
