Abstract

Abstract The Mesozoic basement complex in South Sulawesi, Indonesia, is exposed in two areas near Bantimala and Barru, known as the Bantimala Complex and the Barru Complex. The complexes consist of metamorphic, ultramafic and sedimentary rocks. Part of these rocks was chaotically mixed to form a mélange. Early Cretaceous (Valanginian to Barremian) radiolarians were extracted from manganese carbonate nodule embeded in dark reddish shale of the Barru Complex. Previously middle Cretaceous (late Albian to early Cenomanian) radiolarian assemblage was reported found in chert and siliceous shale of the Bantimala Complex. The hemipelagic dark reddish shale with manganese carbonate nodule of the Barru Complex are considered to have been deposited in Early Cretaceous time (Valanginian to Barremian) and accreted at the subduction trench during late Early Cretaceous (Aptian) time.Based on radiolarian data, it is considered that the Barru and Bantimala Complexes were not derived from single accretionary complex as previously regarded.

Abstract

Two new sets of palaeontological age determinations based on radiolaria are reported from Timor-Leste. The first is from the Suai Loro-1 petroleum exploration well, located near Suai town in SW Timor-Leste, drilled by Timor Oil in 1971. Newly rediscovered ditch cutting samples from the previously undated basal section of this well have yielded radiolarians of Late Jurassic (middle Oxfordian to middle Kimmeridgian) age. On lithology, this stratigraphic interval of reddish shales and interbedded limestones is assigned to the Tchinver Formation.A second set of radiolarian determinations is from samples collected in the Caraulun river south of Samé town in south-central Timor-Leste. These are dated to the Early Cretaceous (late Valanginian-Hauterivian). The outcrop succession of radiolarian cherts, sandstones and red shales are assigned to the Wai Bua Formation as defined in East Timor (Timor-Leste), which is equivalent to the Nakfunu Formation in Indonesian West Timor.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine if children aged 5-6 at Setyara Wardani Kindergarten in the Jatiasih District of Bekasi City, West Java, improved their gross motor skills after participating in rough movement games while outside in the sun. This study takes a quantitative approach, adopting an experimental methodology and employing a one-group pre- and post-test design for its experimentation. Twenty-eight children from TK Setyara Wardani's group B4 served as participants. This investigation employed a Likert-scale rubric for data gathering using tests and observation sheets. Descriptive statistics and the paired-samples t-test are employed to evaluate hypotheses and draw conclusions from the data. The above table from the Paired Samples Test shows that when the sig. (2-tailed) is 0.000 0.05, H0 is rejected, whereas H1 is accepted. As a result, we can infer that children's gross motor abilities generally improve during the pre- and post-test periods, suggesting that they gain strength and coordination while engaging in roughhousing in the open air.

Abstract

Abstract

Late Cretaceous (Cenomanian–Turonian) radiolarian fauna was recovered from a single chert sample of the Noni Formation in the Miomaffo District of West Timor, which is generally viewed as part of the allochthonous ‘Banda Terrane’.  This fauna is characterized by the presence of Cryptamphorella conara, Diacantocapsa euganea,  Dictyomitra formosa, Dictyomitra montisserei, Guttacapsa biacuta, Stichomitra communis, Patelula verteroensis, Pessagnobrachia fabianii, Praeconocaryomma lipmanae and others. The character of the radiolarian fauna shows a close resemblance to those in South Sulawesi and is very different from age-equivalent radiolarian faunas in the ‘autochthonous’ southern foldbelts of West Timor (Kolbano) and Timor Leste (Viqueque). This report on the Late Cretaceous radiolarians in Timor attempts to identify the fauna, to clarify its age, and to indicate the paleogeographic origin of radiolarian-bearing chert of the Noni Formation.
