Abstract

Activities of spent catalysts were examined in hydrodesulfurization (HDS) of gas oil at 340oC under 50 kg/cm2 H2. Two types of spent commercial catalyst (NiMo/Al2O3 dan CoMo/Al2O3) were used in single and two-stage of reaction configuration to show the inhibition effect of the by-product such as H2S and NH3. Hydrogen renewal between stages was attempted to show additional inhibition effects of the by-products such as H2S and NH3. Spent NiMo/Al2O3 dan CoMo/Al2O3 catalysts showed contrasting activities in HDS. HDS over spent CoMo/Al2O3 was much improved by H2 refreshment.The effect of two-stage hydrodesulfurization was markedly reduced over the spent NiMo/Al2O3. Spent catalysts apparently lost their activity due to the carbon deposition, which covered the active sites more preferentially.

Abstract

Potensi minyak biji kapuk untuk dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan bakar nabati sangatlah besar karena minyak biji kapuk tidak dapt dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan pangan sehingga tidak mengganggu ketahanan pangan membuatnya menjadi bahan baku potensial untuk sintesis green diesel. Pre-treatment minyak biji kapuk dilakukan untuk mengurangi kadar FFA (Free Fatty Acid) yang terkandung sebelum di proses menjadi green diesel. Proses hidrogenasi dilakukan dengan bantuan katalis NiMo/ ɣ-Al2O3.  Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu membuat green diesel dari minyak biji kapuk menggunakan proses hidrogenasi dan fraksinasi dengan katalis NiMo/ ɣ-Al2O3 serta mengetahui karakterisasi green diesel dengan bahan baku minyak biji kapuk. Kondisi yang dijalankan yaitu waktu reaksi ( 2 x 30 menit, 2 x 60 menit, dan 2 x 90 menit) dengan tekanan awal 30 bar, temperatur reaksi 400 ℃ dan dijalankan 2 stage. Dari hasil penelitian didapatkan waktu terbaik pembuatan green diesel yaitu 2 x 60menit. Sedangkan untuk hasil karakterisasi didapat bahwa untuk kandungan sulfur, pour point, cloud point dan cetane number memenuhi standar SNI, namun untuk nilai kinematic viscosity belum memenuhi standar SNI.  DOI : https://doi.org/10.33005/jurnal_tekkim.v15i1.2298
