Abstract

Berbagai upaya yang dilakukan dengan memanfaatkan m-learning sehingga memberikan kemudahan bagi pengguna karena dapat mengakses secara praktis kapanpun dan dimanapun melalui smartphone untuk belajar Bahasa Inggris. Mobile Learning (M-Learning) merupakan suatu cara untuk membuka berbagai kesempatan belajar secara baru dan menarik, dan membayangkan siswa yang terus aktif. Pada penelitian ini pengembangan sistem dari 4 (empat) penelitian sebelumnya tentang bagaimana siswa memahami M-Learning khususnya untuk bidang studi bahasa inggris di colorado course Bengkulu. Salah satu aset utama yaitu fleksibilitas waktu untuk dapat belajar setiap saat dan setiap tempat. Untuk mewujudkan pola interaksi yang berharga yang diberikan oleh lingkungan M-Learning, pendidik perlu melakukan penalaran pedagogis kompleks dalam perencanaan dan pengajaran mereka dan harus memperhitungkan bagaimana siswa bertindak dalam berbagai ruang belajar. Aplikasi yang dapat membantu pengguna dalam upaya pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris yang dapat diakses secara praktis kapanpun dan dimanapun melalui smartphone, sehingga untuk kedepannya aplikasi M- Learning bahasa inggris berbasis client server diharapkan dapat dikembangkan dengan masalah yang lebih kompleks sehingga dapat menghasilkan sistem pakar yang berkelas dan mempunyai nilai jual yang tinggi. Kata kunci:     Mobile, Learning, Teknologi, Pembelajaran, Siswa.

Abstract

This research was aimed at finding the types of Discourse Markers used by the students and investigating the accuracy of Discourse Markers by the students of English Education Study program graduated in December 2016 at the University of Bengkulu. This research was a descriptive study. The subjects in this research were 10 theses background from the students of English Education Study Program who graduated in December 2016. The result of this research shows that there were four types of Discourse Markers used by the students based on Bruce Fraser’s theory such as Inferential markers, temporal markers, elaborative markers and contrastive markers. The most dominant marker used by the students was Inferential markers with 42%. This research also found that the most accurate marker used was Temporal markers with 78.57% and the lowest accurate marker was Elaborative markers with 52.17%.

Abstract

Coherence is one of the characteristic of good academic writing, including abstract that represent the whole content of research article in order to be able to show what messages want to be expressed in the abstract. This study investigated the English abstract TEFLIN in applied linguistisc written by Indonesian speaker in its coherence by analyzing the theme and rheme. This study focuses on (1) identifying the theme which are dominantly used in 2015 TEFLIN  article  abstracts  written  by  non-native  speaker  of English (2) identifying thematic progressions which are dominantly used in 2015 TEFLIN article abstracts written by non-native speaker of English (3) finding  out  coherences’ quality of the research  article  abstract  section  in 2105 TEFLIN article abstracts in applied linguistic  based on thematic  progression.  This study  was designed by  using descriptive qualitative. The results show that the type of theme dominantly used in 2015TEFLIN article abstracts written by non-native speaker of English is topical theme, not all  non-native  speakers  of  English  use  textual  theme,  and  just  a  few  of  them  useinterpersonal theme. In addition, Zig Zag pattern in thematic progression is dominantlyused then followed by reitaration theme, and the last Multiple (Split) pattern, none of the abstracts use Derived TP pattern. Most of the  research  article  abstract  section   in TEFLIN abstracts in applied linguistic have fair quality, just a few included to less quality, none of them was catagorized as good and poor quality. It can be concluded that English abstracts of TEFLIN in applied linguistisc written by Indonesian speakers can be catagorized as good abstract based on their coherence.
