Abstract

The use of twitter among Cibinong teenagers has different motives from one another. The purpose of this study was to find out what teenagers around the Cibinong sub-district often accessed on twitter and how the impact they felt. The sample used is 10 teenagers who live in the area around Cibinong. This study uses a qualitative approach, namely by interviewing several teenagers. This study concludes that adolescents in Cibinong sub-district use Twitter as a source of up-to-date information that has a wide scope and can be accessed by anyone. Some teenagers also use this social media to communicate with fellow mutuals on their accounts. This causes social relationships with new people known in cyberspace. In addition, teenagers use twitter as a medium for learning English and some use twitter as a place to sell. However, on the other hand, twitter for teenagers has a bad impact, for example, teenagers must be able to fortify themselves not to access indecent content. Another bad impact, teenagers are difficult to manage time, they tend to spend time playing twitter or for them twitter can be addictive in its use.Keywords: Motive, Teenagers, TwitterPenggunaan twitter di kalangan remaja Cibinong memilki motif yang berbeda satu dengan yang lain. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui apa saja yang sering diakses para remaja sekitar kecamatan Cibinong di twitter serta bagaimana dampak yang mereka rasakan. Sampel yang digunakan adalah 10 remaja yang tinggal di daerah sekitaran Cibinong. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, yaitu melakukan wawancara beberapa orang remaja. Penelitian ini memberikan kesimpulan bahwa remaja di kecamatan Cibinong menggunakan media sosial twitter sebagai sumber informasi ter up to date yang cakupannya luas dan dapat diakses siapa saja. Sebagian remaja juga menggunakan media sosial ini untuk berkomunikasi dengan sesama mutualan di akun mereka. Hal ini menyebabkan terjadinya hubungan sosial dengan orang yang baru dikenal dalam dunia maya. Selain itu remaja menggunakan twitter sebagai media belajar bahasa inggris serta ada juga yang menggunakan twitter sebagai tempat untuk berjualan. Namun, di sisi lain twitter bagi remaja memiliki dampak buruk, misalnya remaja harus mampu membentengi diri mereka untuk tidak mengakses konten-konten yang tidak senonoh. Dampak buruk lainnya, remaja sulit mengatur waktu, mereka cenderung menghabiskan waktu untuk bermain twitter atau bagi mereka twitter dampat membuat kecanduan dalam penggunaannya.Kata kunci: Motif, Remaja, Twitter

Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim of finding out whether the presence of posts on the citizen journalism account @infodepok_id has an impact on its followers to remain alert to events or incidents reported on the account. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method in the form of a questionnaire. The sample of this study was 100 respondents who were followers of the @infodepok_id account and lived in the Depok area. The results of this study indicate that there is an impact felt by its followers after seeing posts in the form of photos or videos on the account. This is evidenced by several tests conducted with the help of SPSS. One of them is the determination coefficient test which shows the percentage of the impact of account posts on alertness of 43.3%. Then, the results of the T test which show the calculated t results obtained are greater than the specified t table, namely 8,667> 1,985. As well as the results of the Pearson correlation test which shows a strong relationship between variable x, namely posts and variable y, namely alertness, of 0.659.
