Abstract

Budi Tani Dance performance was grown and developed at Lencoh Village Society as part of syawalan traditional ceremony that conducted on village cleaning day (bersih dusun ). This ceremony was related its advocates’sociocultural. For Lencoh Village Society, its existence is syncretism that seen through ceremonial activities. By provided offerings and followed Budi Tani Dance performance full of symbols, Lencoh society was attempted to communicate with powerful beings for made dual relationship such as vertically and horizontally. Lencoh society was communicated with its God, ancestors and holy soul to get safety, benediction in its life through vertically relationship. Then, togetherness and devotion sense based on cooperation and assistance each others would built through horizontally relationship. Traditional ceremony of syawalan that conducted on cleaning day (bersih dusun) and followed by Budi Tani Dance performance with magical religious attitude related to norm and social attitude to preserve Lencoh society life as the prop was executed based on belief.Keyword : Folk Dance, Budi Tani Dance

Abstract

The activity of dance training is the continuation of the third Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (The Institution Three Dharma) that is community service and it is one of the teacher s tasks as well as obligation. The teachers of Dance Department in Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Surakarta hold the program and they hope it will become a continuous activity as a media for increasing traditional arts being. Besides that, it is also a mediafor teachers to publish the Institution. Finally, the program is supposed to be able to significantly affect input qualitatively as well as quantitatively. The activity will be leaded to the learning of creative traditional dance, Rebana, for the students in Studio Kreasi Senja, Selo, Boyolali. They are also students in SMKN I Selo Boyolali. The expectation of the program is that students can present Rebana dance. The object of the program is students of SMKN I Selo Boyolali that are also joined in Senja Creative Dance Studio, Selo, Boyolali, especially for the extracurricular activity, dance. The learning method used in this activity includes speech,  demonstration, and drilling. The result will be a repertoire of creative traditional dance called Rebana completed by make up and customs.Key words : creative traditional dance, dance learning, appreciation

Abstract

The article entitled “An Attempt to Train and Introduce A Traditional Dance of Surakarta Style in SMA Batik I Surakarta” is the result of a public service activity. Dance education is hoped to be able to be successful as one of the supporting pillars of Javanese art and culture in Surakarta. A traditional dance is art and cultural heritage being the characteristics and identity of the court of Surakarta. The problem is that the sophisticated and modern stream of globalization has influence over the life of traditional dance, especially over the younger generation. Due to that, the dance training for senior high school students is hoped to be able to make them more appreciative to traditional dance. The methods used in the training were drill, demonstration, lecture, and synthesis analysis structure. Based on the methods, the result of the training shows that the students could present a story called Rara Mendut Pranacitra, a collaboration of theatre, dance and karawitan. They were only trained for four months but the performance was good enough according to the evaluation criteria for a work of dance.Keyword : traditional dance, trainning , appresiation
