Abstract

The study was conducted in Bandar Jambu Village, Tapian Dolok District, Simalungun Regency, with a height of ± 300 meters above sea level. This research was conducted from July to August 2017. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of cocopeat on growth and production of yam plants (Pachyrhizus erosus). This research was carried out in the form of field trials using randomized block design (RBD) with 5 treatments, namely, P0: without cocopeat administration, P1: using cocopoe 1kg / plot, P2: using 2kg cocopeat / plot, P3: using cocopeat 3kg / plot, P4 : use 4kg cocopeat / plot. Each treatment was repeated 4 times. as a parameter. To find out the treatment factor tested, parameters of plant growth and production were measured, including: plant height (cm), fruit weight per plant (g), fruit weight per plot (kg). The results showed that cocopeat had a significant effect on plant height (cm), fruit weight per plant (gr), fruit weight per plot (kg). The effect of treatment P4 (4 kg cocopeat / plot) showed the highest yield at the age of 2, 4 and 6 weeks after planting.
