Abstract

This study aims to determine the increase in the ability of children to recognize letters and numbers through the application of letter and number card games in the group B TK Dharma Wanita Persatuan Tanjungbalai 2017/2018 school year. This research is a classroom action research with two cycles. The study was conducted at Dharma Wanita Persatuan Kindergarten Tanjungbalai from January to April 2018. The subjects of this study were 16 children of group B. The ability of children to recognize letters is assessed based on the assessment instrument in the form of a research rubri which consists of aspects of reciting, sorting, and writing letters and numbers. The results of the study show that letter and number card games can improve the ability of children to recognize letters and numbers in the Dharma Wanita Persatuan TK B group Tanjungbalai 2017/2018 school year. This is indicated by an increase in the percentage of the pre cycle, cycle I and cycle II in the learning process carried out through letter and number card games. In the pre cycle the number of children whose abilities in the good category were only 31%. In the first cycle it increased to 56%, and in the second cycle increased to 81% so that it reached an indicator of the success of the study.
