Abstract

Education must be able to, at least, prepare students for three things: a) prepare students for jobs that are not currently available; b) prepare students to have the ability to solve problems whose current problems have not yet arisen, and c) prepare children to be able to use technology whose technology has not yet been discovered. The purpose of this research is to see how the scientific literacy of PGMI students at the Daarul Qur'an Institute is. This research method is a qualitative descriptive analysis, namely by providing a questionnaire of questions related to scientific literacy skills to each student. The sample used was PGMI Daarul Qur'an Institute students in semesters 1, 3, and 5. The results of this study were that some of the students of PGMI Daarul Qur'an Institute already had scientific literacy skills, namely 55% of the students of PGMI Daarul Qur'an Institute Jakarta semester 1, 3, and 5. While the rest do not have scientific literacy skills. This shows that lecturers at the Jakarta Daarul Qur'an Institute, especially those who teach at the PGMI Study Program, must do more learning that emphasizes the scientific literacy skills of their students.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the potential of ondel-ondel, a traditional Betawi puppet,as a medium for teaching mathematics in elementary schools and to examinestudents' enthusiasm while participating in math lessons that are integrated with thislocal cultural element. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with research subjects including the school principal, fifth-grade teachers, and fifth-grade students at SDIT Al Inayah. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, structured interviews, and documentation. The research results show thatthe structure and ornaments of ondel-ondel contain various mathematical elements, such as algebra concepts, two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes, symmetry, patterns, and measurements. The use of ondel-ondel as a teaching medium hasproven to increase student activity and enthusiasm as well as aid in understandingmathematical concepts contextually. In addition, the use of local culture-based mediasuch as traditional clothing, traditional houses, traditional games, and traditional foodsalso has the potential to serve as alternative media for teaching ethnomathematics. This learning reinforces local cultural values and supports the character developmentof students in line with the principles of the Merdeka Curriculum. Thus, ondel-ondelbased ethnomathematics can be a relevant pedagogical innovation in enhancing thequality of mathematics education in elementary schools.
