Abstract

Abstract:  This study aims to investigate that active learning strategies can improve the students language proficiency in the second year of SMAN 1 Kediri, West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. the subjects of this study were consisted of 31 students. The method used in this study was Classroom Action Research, the design applied in this study was a collaborative action research. This research carried in two cycles, each cycle consisted of two meetings, the data  were gathered  through interview, field notes, questionnaire and test. The result of this study showed that there was improvement  of students language proficiency. Most of students gained good scores gradually at the end of each cycle. The score of Minimum Mastery Criterion  of English lesson was 70. The students  mean score in preliminary study was 55.85. the mean score  in the first cycle was 66.13. the mean score in the second cycle was 73.19. in addition, there was  a positive  response from the English teacher about implementing the action and changes of students learning styles. In conclusion, using active learning strategies could improve students language proficiency across their learning styles.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan active learning strategies dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berbahasa inggris bagi siswa SMAN 1 Kediri, Lombok Barat, Nusa Tenggara Barat. Populasi penelitian sebanyak 31 siswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan rancangan kolaboratif. Penelitian tindakan kelas ini terdiri atas dua siklus, setiap siklus terdiri atas dua kali pertemuan, data dikumpulkan melalui interview, catatan lapangan, kuisioner dan test. Hasil dari penelitian tindakan kelas ini menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan  pada kemampuan berbahasa siswa serta perubahan terhadap gaya belajar siswa. Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM) pada pelajaran bahasa inggris adalah 70. Nilai siswa pada tahap awal sebesar 55.85, nilai rata – rata yang diperoleh siswa pada siklus pertama sebesar 66.13, dan 73.19 pada siklus kedua. Terdapat respon positif dari guru bahasa inggris terkait penerapan dan pelaksanaan penelitian ini serta pada perubahan gaya belajar siswa. Dengan kata lain dapat dikatakan bahwa penerapan active learning strategies dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berbahasa siswa serta perubahan signifikan pada gaya belajar siswa.

Abstract

basic english training for early childhood which lived at ampenan coastline, Lombok - West Nusa Tenggara Province aims to introduced basic English for early childhood so it can be the best investment for their future. this training program held for seven weeks, 60 minutes for a meeting. the training materials consists of language functions and vocabulary by using songs and games which can arouse the participants motivation to learn English. the result of this training program shown that there is an improvement of the participants skills significantly at their communication ability. they motivated to used english in their daily interaction because created interesting teaching learning process.

Abstract

Mastery of English is something that plays an important role in the era of globalization. The community service program was held to increase the quality of human resources through communicative English training for participants in the Kejar Package B at the Rinjani Community Learning Activity Center (PKBM), Kekalik Jaya Environment, Mataram City – West Nusa Tenggara. This training aims to provide active English skills for trainees so that later they can use these skills to get better jobs in the future. This training was attended by 20 participants and was held twice a week for 3 months. The learning methods applied in this training are games and discussions to identify the knowledge and skills needed. The lecture method is used during the learning process for vocabulary and grammar development in English. The achievement of this community service program can be seen from the increase in learning outcomes, the results in the first cycle of 60.71% increased significantly to 79.17% in the second cycle. Achievement indicators have been met 75%. The training participants looked very enthusiastic and happy to participate in this activity, it can be concluded that the English language training which is presented in a fun and communicative way can have a significant influence on the abilities of the trainees.

Abstract

The purpose of this Classroom Action Research (CAR) was to know whether PjBL could effectively address students participation and learning achievement as well as to identify the factors that contributed to the improvement. The research participant were 24 second grade senior high students. This Classroom Action Research (CAR) was conducted in two cycles, each cycle consisted of two meetings. The data were collected using various instruments such as interview, questionnaires, observation checklists and test conducted in the last meeting. The data were analysed using analytical scoring rubric. The result of observation showed that the students were more participate actively than before, the percentage was 52 % in cycle one and 84 % in cycle two. The result of test in cycle one showed 17 students ( 70.8 %) got higher score than minimum achievement criteria (KKM) and 7 students ( 29.2 %) failed. In cycle two, there were 21 students (87.5%) reached higher score than minimum achievement criteria (KKM) and only 3 students (12.5%) under minimum achievement criteria. It indicated that there were significant improvement which occurred in all aspects of observation. Project based learning enables students participate in classroom interaction actively, the students learn to work together, respect to other point of view, share their ideas and develop their project creatively. The research finding indicated that Project based learning (PjBL) was improve students participation and learning achievement successfully

Abstract

This study aims to find out the effect of using design thinking approach on students creativity in write descriptive text. Design thinking approach creates collaboration, creativity and innovation. It arouses a mindset focus from problem to solution, exploring innovation and developing creativity significantly . This research was conducted by using experimental research design. The population was 2nd gr of Junior High Students. The samples of the research were divided into two classes which consisted of experimental and control group. It chosen by using random sampling method. The experimental group was taught by using collaborative learning method while the control group was taught by using conventional method. Data collected by test, test to write descriptive texts completely. After analysing the data, it was found that the value of t-observed was 5.61 with the degree of freedom 40 at the level of significance 1.764, it means that t-observed was higher that t-table (5.61>1.764). The result of this investigation showed that there are significant changes on students descriptive text, that finding explained that design thinking approach effective to enhance the students creativity in second language writing performance significantly.
