Abstract

The objective of this research was to know the jargon and the forms of jargon used in the conversation on Masterchef Indonesia Season 5 live on one of private television in Indonesia. The method used in this research was descriptive qualitative method. The source of the data from this research were words, phrases, sentences in the conversation script between the jury and the participants on Masterchef Indonesia Season 5. The result found in this research that jargon used by the jury and the participants were in English. Then, it was found that there were 37 data in the conversation.From 37 data, there 26 jargon in the form of words and 11 in the form of phrases.

Abstract

This thesis contains an analysis of the emancipation of women in the novel entitled Girl in Pieces by Kathleen Glasgow. The method used in this research is qualitative method. The purpose of this study is to find out the type of female emancipation in the novel Girl in Pieces by Kathleen Glasgow in the Obama era in 2016 and to find out the impact of women's emancipation. Data is taken from the novel Girl in Pieces by Kathleen Glasgow. From results of the data analysis found that there are two types of emancipation found away the five types of emancipation, namely, the emancipation of women fostering progress / society. The positive impact of women's emancipation is that women can become independent and independent from men. And the negative impact of the emancipation of women is the absence of gender identity or the loss of gender identity during the Obama period.

Abstract

The objectives of the research were to find the educational value and benefits of watching movie. The source of the movie discussed in this research is Bilal: A New Breed of Hero. There were two sources of data used in this thesis. The main data source was obtained from the movie in the form of dialogue scripts between characters in the movie. The second data was obtained from articles related to research and other sources from the internet. The type of research in this movie was descriptive qualitative. It was used to answer the questions in problem of the research and was presented in the form of a description. Based on the analysis, it was known that there were several educational values found, including: honest, brave, peace, confident and potential, discipline, loyal and trustworthiness, respect, loving and affection, kind and friendly, fair and humanist. In addition, there were two benefits of watching Bilal: A New Breed of Hero Movie, namely: as medium of education and medium of entertainment.

Abstract

Multimodal is the study of discourse analysis relates to the systemic functional semiotics. Multimodal as the place of visual communication in a given society can only be understood in the context of the range of the forms or modes of public communication. such as gesture, speech, image, writing, 3D objects, color, music and the others.In visual grammar, the three metafunctions are renamed as representational, interactive, and compositional.The objective of the study is to find out the representational meaning in a visual element of Riau Archipelago Video Promotion. The data used is the visual element of the video. The method used is qualitative research. The result of the study is the conceptual representation displayed in the video is categorized into the classificational process, analytical process and symbolic process. Then,the narrative representation mainly belongs to action processes and reactional processes.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the types of word formation that appear in politics articles and then to find out the dominant type in the data. The process of word formation is one of the important things to analyze because without realizing it often occurs in our daily lives. This research uses qualitative research method. The data used in the form of political articles in the 2021 edition of The Jakarta Post is 10 articles. In this study, there are several types used by researcher to collect and analyze data, including reading articles, identifying words, classification based on types of word formation, describing data and finally making conclusions. The results of this study show that there are 10 types of word formation based on Yule’s theory. Researcher found 370 words from 7 types of word formation and 3 other types were not found, including compounding 31 words (8,37%), blending 1 word (0,27%), clipping 4 word (1,08%), back formation 4 words (1,08%), acronym 20 words (5,40%), multiple process 1 word (0,27%), affixation 309 words (83,51%). Coinage, borrowing, and conversion are not found in the data. Based on calculations, the researcher concluded that affixation is the dominant type of word formation that appears in The Jakarta Post’s political articles.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the processes of word formation in ten poems in the LOC’s Site Poem. Word-formation processes is the study in morphology. The method used is qualitative research. The data are from the ten poems in the LOC’s Site Poem. The results of the study are that there are 193 (one hundred and ninety three) data found in the LOCs Site Poem. The affixation process including inflectinal and derivational process by 87.56% (eighty seven point five six percent), compounding process by 9.84% (nine point eight four percent), and acronym by 2.07%(two point oh seven percent). The dominant word formation process appear is affixation of inflectional process. The compounding is the combination of noun plus noun and adjective or adverb plus noun.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out which characters are owned by Celaena Sardothein as the main character in the novel Crown of Midnight by Sarah J Mass, which was published by Bloomsbury on August 15, 2013. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with a descriptive type. The results of this study indicate that there are 6 characters possessed by Celaena Sardothein in the novel Crown of Midnight, namely the characters Daredevil, Clever, Cruel, Vengeful, Obey and Smart and there is a value contained in the novel Crown of Midnight, namely the value of education in the form of a sense of "responsibility".
