Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan komunitas Hindu Jawa di Kota Palangka Raya-Kalimantan Tengah. Komunitas Hindu Jawa di Kota Palangka Raya tergabung dalam sebuah kelompok paguyuban dengan nama Paguyuban Hindu Jawi (Pandu Jawi). Aspek yang dikaji terfokus pada eksistensi Paguyugan. Jenis penelitian adalah kualitatif karena data yang dibutuhkan lebih bersifat data deskriptif berupa kata-kata tertulis, lisan dan perilaku orang-orang yang dapat diamati. Bentuknya adalah studi kasus. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan tiga cara, yaitu; observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan studi dokumen. Penentuan informan dilakukan dengan purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan eksistensi Paguyuban Hindu Jawi di Kota Palangka Raya ditopang oleh berbagai bentuk kegiatan yang dilakukan, baik secara eksternal dan internal. Kegiatan eksternal seperti; pelatihan fermentasi makanan ternak; gotong royong; memberikan pandehen dalam persembahyangan basarah. Sedangkan secara internal, kegiatan paguyuban diarahkan pada kegiatan arisan dan berbagai ritus slametan termasuk menyelenggarakan basarah. Aktivitas-aktivitas yang dilakukan oleh Paguyuban Hindu Jawi memiliki fungsi-fungsi tertentu yaitu sebagai penyangga sosial-budaya dan pemberdayaan ekonomi umat Hindu di Kota Palangka Raya.

Abstract

Sala hurui marriage is one type of marriage which in principle is strictly prohibited by the Dayak tribe community. But empirically, even though it was banned, this incident still happened as in the research conducted in several villages in Katingan District. Even this prohibition is written down in the form of adat rules or adat law. When this happens it is called manantarang hadat. This research focuses on problems related to the form of sanctions and goals that are accepted for people who to do sala hurui marriage. Theories used to help uncover the problem are the theory of relative criminal and the theory of legal reception. While the data collection method is by interview and document study. While analyzing the data by grouping the data and then doing verification to the conclusion stage. The results of the analysis conducted there are two forms of sanctions in sala hurui marriages namely moral sanctions and traditional rituals sanctions. While the purpose of sanctions is to clean the perpetrators of animalistic qualities and purify again in order to obtain the descent that is expected. In addition, the purpose of other sanctions is to restore the balance of the cosmos.

Abstract

The intergenerational transmission and continuity of Balinese Hindu identity within minority–majority religious relations in transmigration areas presents complex dynamics, especially when structural pressures, differences in the number of adherents, and cultural dominance influence the space for religious practice. This study aims to analyze social practices, identity reproduction mechanisms, and negotiation processes carried out by Balinese Hindus in the transmigration area of Sumber Garunggung Village, Central Kalimantan, while also formulating the implications for the sustainability of identity as a minority group. A qualitative approach was used with participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation techniques. Data analysis is based on Pierre Bourdieu's theory of practice, particularly related to the concepts of habitus, arena, and capital, and is supported by Stuart Hall's theory of cultural identity regarding identity as a dynamic or fluid process. The results of the study show that Balinese Hindu identity is reproduced through rituals, religious and customary institutions, family, pasraman, art, and socio-economic activities. Identity negotiation takes place dialogically and contextually, particularly through adjustments to the ngaben ritual, interfaith participation, rational symbolic communication in public spaces, and the strengthening of social and economic capital to gain legitimacy. These findings confirm that identity is not merely inherited but is reproduced through continuous interaction between structure and agency. This study formulates the “Contextual-Transmigratory Balinese Hindu” model, which is a pattern of identity that is stable in the core values of Balinese Hindu teachings, yet adaptive in practice according to the social context. The sustainability of minority identity depends on normative stability, social legitimacy, and contextual adaptability.

Abstract

Tujuan dari artikel ini adalah untuk membahas fungsi dan tantangan dalam pelestarian tumbuh-tumbuhan upakara di Desa Singakerta, Bali. Beberapa tahun terakhir, jenis tumbuhan ini mengalami kelangkaan, yang berdampak pada peningkatan harganya, terutama menjelang hari raya agama Hindu. Akibatnya, upaya pelestarian harus dilakukan. Pendekatan penelitian menggunakan data kualitatif dengan menentukan informan secara purposive, yaitu berdasarkan pengetahuan dan pengalaman yang mereka miliki. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan studi dokumen. Sedangkan analisis data dilakukan dengan model interaktif, yaitu secara bersamaan mulai dari proses pengumpulan data, pemilahan data, penafsiran, dan sampai pada kesimpulan. Analisis menunjukkan bahwa upaya pelestarian pada dasarnya memiliki fungsi manifes dan laten. Fungsi manifes meliputi fungsi religius, ekonomi, dan sebagai lapangan pekerjaan baru. Sedangkan fungsi laten terdiri dari fungsi bahan usada (pengobatan tradisional Bali), keharmonisan dengan alam lingkungan, dan penambahan jaringan sosial. Sebaliknya, pelestarian tumbuhan upakara acap menjadi sulit karena beberapa alasan, antara lain keterbatasan bibit, perawatan khusus untuk beberapa jenis tumbuhan upakara, dan keterbatasan lahan.

Abstract

Upacara Atma Wedana (AW) merupakan ritual sakral yang dimaksudkan untuk menyucikan atma (jiwa) setelah kematian dan membimbingnya menuju alam spiritual yang lebih tinggi. Wayang Lemah (WL) berperan penting dalam proses tersebut dengan menceritakan kisah Bima Swarga tentang perjalanan atma, menggambarkan perjuangan heroik Bima di alam kematian sebagai penuntun dan penyucian atma. Artikel ini membahas peran WL dalam Upacara AW sebagai sarana visualisasi, penuntun spiritual, dan penyucian atma. Untuk memahami fungsi simbolik WL, penelitian ini mengunakan metode kualitatif deskritif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melali wawancara mendalam dengan dalang dan pemangku (rohaniawan Hindu Bali). Melakukan analisis pada dokumen kisah Bima Swarga dan ritual AW. Fokus penelitian terletak pada tiga dimensi utama, yaitu, visualisasi atma melalui simbol-simbol dalam pertunjukkan WL; peran WL sebagai penuntun spiritual bagi sang atma; dan peran WL sebagai penyucian atma. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa WL tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai media ritual, tetapi juga membantu orang belajar tentang spiritualitas. WL dalam AW tidak hanya mempertahankan tradisi keagamaan Hindu tetapi juga mengajarkan nilai-nilai spiritual dan pendidikan melalui visualisasi perjalanan atma. Selain itu, WL berfungsi sebagai penuntun dan penyuci atma, memastikan bahwa jiwa mencapai keadaan spiritual yang lebih tinggi sesuai ajaran Hindu.

Abstract

This article aims to explore as well as explain the causes and implications of the reconstruction of the Mabuug-Buugan tradition in the Kedonganan Traditional Village. Mebuug –Buugan is one of the important traditions in the celebration of Nyepi which is owned by the Kedonganan Indigenous people. But over time, this tradition has not been implemented for approximately 60 years, based on information, the last Mabuug-Buugan was carried out in 1965. In that period until 2012, the stories and practices of Mabuug-Buugan were almost inaudible, especially when they were practiced. In the era of 2014, the practice of mabuug-buugan was reconstructed with various forms of discourse as an effort to revitalize the local wisdom of the indigenous people of Kedonganan. This research uses a descriptive approach, the theory as a basis is semiotics. Data were collected using observation techniques, in-depth interviews and documentation. Data analysis using interactive models and data triangulation. Based on the analysis carried out, there are several causes for the reconstruction carried out, namely; a) the problem of the identity of the cultural traditions of the Kedonganan Indigenous people; b) environmental issues; c) tourism modernization. Meanwhile, the implications of the reconstruction of the Mabuug-Buugan tradition are; a) myth renewal: from games to Nyepi theology and philosophy; b) The occurrence of mangrove environmental preservation; c) annual tourism attractions.
