Abstract

As archipelagic countries, Japan and Indonesia's electricity transmission and distribution infrastructures are island-specific. They have limited network areas and face similar risks caused by climate change. Energy conservation through technical approaches to improve energy efficiency is effective in combating climate change and generates more significant economic benefits. This study examines the strategies demonstrated by Japan to improve its energy efficiency and identifies the potential of adopting those strategies in Indonesia. This research includes an in-depth literature review and benchmarking approaches to the two countries' mitigation strategies. The study found that the Japanese approaches, such as the prioritization of strict regulations, extensive use of innovative technology, and solid industrial collaboration, can be adopted to improve energy efficiency in Indonesia. We also identified several obstacles to adopting those approaches in Indonesia, such as policy inconsistencies, limited financial incentives, and fragmented governance. Adopting the Japanese approaches in Indonesia needs clear energy labeling, more integrated energy management in large industries, appropriate electricity pricing, and efficient energy service company (ESCO) schemes.

Abstract

It was found that there are no support points at PT XYZ's Martabe Site, which led to a problem with customer service levels measured by OTIF (On-Time In-Full). This situation may delay delivery due to the long distance (367 km or 12 hours by land transportation) between Medan and Martabe. Low OTIF rates correspond with the limited availability of parts at PT XYZ. A company's ability to supply demand with its stock is the availability of parts. Consequently, customers purchase from competitors with parts that are ready on-site. This study has designed new support points based on accurate demand forecasting and a project feasibility assessment based on an Internal Rate of Return (IRR). As a result, new support points guaranteed the availability of parts to make the item In-Full and decrease lead time delivery to make the item On-Time. After building a new support point at the Martabe site, sales increased by 74% and contributed to a 44% growth in sales in the Medan area

Abstract

Tourism has become an economic sector that contributes to the country. Labuan Bajo is currently one of the primadonna of new tourism in Indonesia where the main focus of consumers is foreign tourists. With the development of tourism like that, tourism seems to provide small benefit to the local community. Therefore, the current focus is how to build a relationship between tourism and local industry. This study analyzes the proportion of purchasing hotel products from MSMEs and also the economic opportunities available to MSMEs in the hotel industry in Labuan Bajo. The data is obtained from a survey conducted at 12 hotels to find out what opportunities have the most potential to be able to form cooperation between MSMEs and the hotel sector. From the analysis, it was found that the most potential cooperation is in the field of waste transportation, food supply, souvenirs as well as services related to maintenance and repair. This can have implications for the role of tourism to the growth of the local industry followed by an increase in the economy in the local community.
