Abstract

Tulisan ini menggambarkan bagaimana kaitan antara pendidikan karakter dan pendidikan bahasa. Pendidikan karakter merupakan salah satu solusi untuk mengatasi kemerosotan moral khususnya di kalangan remaja (siswa). Pendidikan karakter berkaitan erat dengan pendidikan bahasa, sebab sebagian nilai-nilai karakter terdapat dalam pendidikan bahasa. Sekolah berperan penting sebagai wahana memperteguh karakter dan nilai budaya bangsa. Pendidikan bahasa termasuk sastra merupakan salah satu wahana untuk membentuk karakter siswa, dengan kata lain, memiliki peran dalam pembentukan karakter. Dalam pembelajaran bahasa dan sastra perlu dioptimalkan baik strategi, metode, media, serta bahan ajar yang bermuatan nilai pendidikan dan kebajikan sehingga membentuk karakter peserta didik. Pendidikan bahasa bukan hanya tugas dan tanggung jawab guru bahasa, melainkan tanggung jawab semua guru bidang studi karena semua guru pasti menggunakan bahasa. Satu hal yang paling penting adalah meningkatkan kegemaran  membaca bagi siswa yang merupakan kunci keberhasilan pendidikan. ------------------------This paper describes the link between educational character and language education. Educational character is an important solution to overcome the moral decline, among young people (especially students). Educational character is closely related to language education, because some of the values of the character contained in the language education. Schools play an important role as a vehicle for character building and reinforce the cultural values of the nation. Language education, including literary, is one vehicle for shaping the character of students. In other words, it has a role in the formation of character. In learning the language and literature,  strategies, methods, media, and teaching materials need to be optimized to form the character of students. Yet, language education is not only the duty and responsibility of the language teacher, but the responsibility of all teachers because all the teachers definitely use language. Thus, the most important thing to do is to increase students reading ability which is a key to success.

Abstract

This study aims to discover and describe how the Arabic influence on the development of the Indonesian language,  which focused on the influence of the vocabulary,  the influence of the Arabic alphabet and its influences on Indonesian syntax,  as well as to discover how changes are absorbed Arabic vocabulary into Indonesian. The method used in this study is a literature review using the technique of content analysis,  which is a research technique for making inferences that can be replicable,  and valid the data by looking at the context. Sources of data in this study are the books relating to the object of research,  among Indonesian Dictionary and other books. The results showed that the effect of Indonesian Arabic is big enough. This can be seen in the uptake of the Arabic word which ranks third after Dutch and English 1, 495 words. In addition,  the use of Arabic script in Indonesian,  which until now still many books,  both Islamic religious books,  Arabic books,  tales,  literature,  written in Arabic alphabet Malay. Arabic influence on Indonesian syntax can be seen in books or Qur’an translations. The words of the absorption Arabic generally undergo changes in shape,  as adapted to the Indonesian grammar or phonemes. It also changes the meaning,  although the numbers are limited.
