Abstract

Abstract The present paper is concerned with experimental study of performance of a vertical axis savonius wind turbine. Savonius turbine blades are made of PVC pipe and a fan to drive the turbine. The test was carried out with a different number of blades, namely 2 blades, 3 blades and 4 blades at air velocity of 3.6 m/s, 4.4 m/s and 5.8 m/s. The results obtained the highest maximum power efficiency is in the 3 blade test, namely at air velocity of 3.6 m/s of 0.156, air velocity of 4.4 m/s of 0.313 and air velocity of 5.8 m/s of 0.182. The maximum torque coefficient for the three air velocity also obtained the highest value in the 3 blade test. At a air velocity of 3.6 m/s, a torque coefficient of 0.641 is obtained, a air velocity of 4.4 m / s is 1.027 and a air velocity of 5.8 m/s is 0.745. The maximum efficiency in the 3 blades test with air velocities of 3.6 m/s, 4.4 m/s, and 5.8 m/s is obtained respectively 15.6%, 31.3% and 18.2% efficiency. In conclusion, the 3 blades wind turbine has the highest efficiency compared to the 2 and 4 blades tests. Meanwhile, the highest efficiency was obtained at a air velocity of 4.4 m / s with 3 blades, namely 31.3%.

Abstract

Abstract Renewable energy is one of the alternative energies for the application of effective energy in the future because it also takes into account the increasing dependence of humans on the use of fossil energy which will reduce the availability of fossil energy and renewable energy can also be used as an alternative energy source whose distribution is For areas that have not been reached by PLN because of the large and centralized power generation system, one solution is the use of renewable energy generation, one of which is wind energy. Wind energy generators have the advantage that the energy costs are relatively cheaper, but the challenge is that this plant is designed for areas with medium and high wind speed groups so that the performance of this plant will decrease when applied in low pressure areas, so optimization is needed on the wrong design. The only thing is the addition of a shroud (wind lens) on a wind turbine that can increase performance twice as much as a wind turbine without a wind lens. For the test, a wind turbine design test variable was carried out using a windlens and a wind turbine without a wind lens with wind speeds of 3 m/s, 4 m/s and 5 m/s. The best test results used a windlens Cp max = 0.898 and Ct max = 0.58 at a wind speed of 3 m/s.

Abstract

Abstract Electrical energy is the main energy needed for electrical equipment. Electrical energy is energy that is very important for humans because electrical energy is currently one of the basic human needs. Current power plants rely heavily on fossil materials, while availability is dwindling, and an alternative energy is needed to get electricity, namely the Pelton turbine. This study aims to obtain water power, namely the Pelton turbine and to obtain efficiency, power, TSR and torque by varying the number of blades. The result is that for 9 blades the value of Cp max = 0.71, CT max = 0.95, TSR max = 2.68, max efficiency = 71%, power P turbine max = 4.08 watts. Whereas for the 12 Blade Pelton turbine, the result is that Cp max = 0.79, CT max = 1.38, TSR max = 2.74, max efficiency = 79%, turbine P power = 4.69 watts.

Abstract

One of the potential new and renewable energy sources is wind energy. Wind energy is a clean energy source with no emissions. The government is quite concerned about reducing the use of fossil energy sources and switching to renewable energy that is more friendly to the environment and has unlimited sources. for example in 2025 the government targets the installed capacity for wind energy to be 0.97 GW. For that we need a continuous study of the potential utilization of wind energy. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the number of blades on the efficiency of the vertical axis savonius turbine. The test was carried out with 3 variations in the number of blades, namely with 3 blades, 6 blades and 12 blades at a wind speed of 3.5 m / s. To drive the turbine, a fan is installed at a distance of 500 mm from the turbine. The results showed that the highest efficiency was owned by the turbine with the number of blades 12 at a wind speed of 3.5 m / s, namely 23% with a generator output power of 1.94 watts, 398.8 rpm rotation, 0.046 torque. The smallest efficiency was obtained in the 3 blade test, which was 4.2%. Then the research can be concluded that the number of blades greatly affects the value of efficiency, it can be seen that the number of blades 12 get a greater efficiency value than the number of blades 3 and 6.

Abstract

Abstract This plan aims to find out a gasoline motor that is produced to be well efficient, data specifications of gasoline motors with motor power of 8.0 HP, motor speed of 2200 Rpm, Diameter x Step 14 cm x 16.8 cm', after planning and this calculation we can find out as follows: Volume cylinder block 230.1 cm , Torsion torque moment 175.3 kg/cm, shaft diameter 5.2 cm. Compression is air pressure which has a very big role in producing engine speed, both temperature and power generated, let us be more careful in planning a motor compression pressure, it is better not to compress too high and not too low, use an appropriate compression system.

Abstract

In an autonomy region era which is signed with appearance many new district ( Kabupaten ) is in order to faster the increasing economic country society . This program should be supported with an existence of electric power The fact that electric power isn't enough for all society especially in the country. It could be understood because generally the distance between a country is far enough and a few number of people in village . All of that make a big invest. Amount complex, the electric power from PLN far from enough. In the village is existence potential water power; nature water fall and irrigation canal that have 2.5 meters height and 250 liter's/second quantities. If two of potential water power could be exist all years long , it can be utilized to move turbine as a micro hydro electric power generator that very potential' in small village.
