Abstract

The availability offishin a formoftragedy of commons. To maintainavailability,fishermen arefaced with theoptiontoput its own interestsin the form ofexploitingandconsumingfishorputcommon interestsin order to maintain the availabilityof fishin conjunction withotherparties. This studyis intends to determinethe main motiveof fishermeninan effort to maintaintheavailability offish. Miniresearchcarried outat Kamal Muara,West Jakarta, a fishermen districtarea. The mini research employsurvey method. The results show that thetrustmotive andeconomic motives are dominant in protecting the environment.Keywords: tragedy of commons, sustainable consumption, core motives, fishery resourcesprotection
