Abstract

Gumawang is an area with lots of bamboo, so many bamboo craftsmen in the area. However, production capacity is still low and cannot meet market demand. This is due to the small number of craftsmen (approximately 10 people) and the low number of workers who carry out the bamboo process. In addition, product quality is low, because it is easily damaged (moldy) caused by the water content in the product is too high, especially in the rainy season. Another problem encountered is a non-ergonomic work system and no financial accounting. To solve the problem, a solution was offered in the form of training for Gumawang residents to increase the number of craftsmen, use of product drying technology to reduce water content so that products last longer, counseling on ergonomics, and training on financial management. Another benefit of the service program is increasing the income of craftsmen and residents in general.

Abstract

Abstract. The small and medium-sized enterprises (UKM) of Kerupuk Cipir are the home industries which produce kerupuk cipir. During the making process, there were still many phases which were done manually using a simple work facility. During the dough stirring phase, the workers used a bending work posture (unergonomic) which caused musculoskeletal complaints and various problems toward the workers. Therefore, a research was conducted by applying rapid entire body assesment (REBA) analysis to decrease musculoskeletal complaints and increase productivity. The research was conducted experimentally at UKM Kerupuk Cipir in Binangun Village, Karangpucung District, Cilacap Regency by using the treatment by subject design. There were two treatments given toward the sample: stirring the dough using the former work facility and stirring the dough using the improved work facility through ergonomic approach. The musculoskeletal complaints were measured using Nordic Body Map questionnaire. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results showed a decrease on REBA score from 11 on level 4 which was in the category of high risk into score of 4 on level 2 which was in the category of quite high when the handle position is on the upper side, score of 5 when the handle position is on the front side, and score of 7 when the handle position is on the lower side. The workers’ complaints of severe pain on 9 body parts and pain on 6 body parts were decreased into mild pain on 7 body parts and no pain on 20 other body parts. Work productivity increased into 89.62%.

Abstract

Kamulyan waste bank is a place to collect the waste from the household around Lowanu Village, Brontokusuman, Mergangsan, Yogyakarta. This waste is distributed to garbage collectors and sorted. Plastic waste that cannot be recycled is used as material for making ecobricks. Ecobricks are materials made from used plastic bottles filled with plastic sachets, plastic bags, and similar materials that are compressed. In making ecobricks, workers perform activities in a sitting position on the floor with both legs folded in and a slightly bent posture. This work attitude causes muscle complaints in the upper and lower neck, upper arm, right elbow, left wrist, and left hand. The purpose of the study was to improve work attitudes to reduce muscle complaints in body parts by designing ergonomic work facilities. This research was conducted with ergonomics intervention on the design of ecobrick plastic compaction work facilities with the Nordic Body Map-VAS Modified Questionnaire. The muscle complaints of the workers' body parts were determined using the Nordic Body Map questionnaire. The results of the study provide a design for compaction of ecobrick plastic materials with dimensions of table length 134.44 cm, table width 66.39 cm, table height 71.63 cm, length of seat mat 41.41 cm, width of seat mat 43.49 cm, height seat 44.51 cm, backrest height 55.5 cm, and backrest width 45.88 cm. Based on the NBM-VAS questionnaire, it shows that the initial condition of pain or pain in the upper neck and lower neck with a moderate pain value is aimed at a scale of 6.5 cm and 7.3 cm to mild pain with a scale of 4.2 cm and 4.3 cm. . Moderate pain in the left wrist and left hand with a scale of 6.1 cm, respectively, to no pain on a scale of 3.1 cm and 3 cm.

Abstract

Ergonomics is important for sustainable development in many fields, including architecture, health, product design, safety, and workplace design. Ergonomic assessments are essential in the workplace to prevent musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). Currently, Indonesia has a standardized ergonomic assessment, SNI 9011:2021. This assessment standard is widely used to evaluate human posture. This study aims to evaluate the position of a traditional brick-maker in which the posture identification system is based on the SNI 9011:2021. This study employed a cross-sectional design with a sample of workers in conventional brick manufacturing. The primary findings of this study were visual ergonomic assessment for posture identification, identification of ergonomic assessment categories with high risk in brick manufacturing, and the prevalence of nagging pain among workers in the brick moulding and drying process. To reduce occupational ergonomic risk, particularly for brick-making workers, ergonomic intervention is required in the form of additional work aids such as chairs. This has been shown to reduce the evaluation score based on SNI 9011: 2021, thereby reducing the occurrence of musculoskeletal disorders

Abstract

IKM NN Aluminum is a metal foundry that produces woks. Based on observations, it appears that the moulding workstation has the highest workload as the operators work in a standing position for 8 hours a day. In addition, the operator lifts a 35 kg mould. This results in un-ergonomic working postures such as excessive bending, head bending and twisting of the body, resulting in waste that has the potential to cause fatigue, physical injury and health problems. The aim of this study is to identify the factors that can cause motion waste, to assess the posture of workers during frying pan moulding activities and to analyse the health implications of the posture assessment. The approach used in this research is lean ergonomics, which combines the principles of lean manufacturing and ergonomics to identify and reduce waste. The methods used are process flow maps to determine the flow of production activities, REBA to identify non-ergonomic postures, and smartwatches for heart rate monitoring to measure worker fatigue. Based on the results of the study, the factor causing motion waste at the moulding workstation is due to the size of the frying pan moulding tool, whose height does not match human anthropometry. Work activities at the moulding station have a high REBA score of 11, which has the potential to cause occupational musculoskeletal disorders. The Pearson correlation test showed a significant relationship between the REBA score and the fatigue level of the workers as measured by heart rate.
