Abstract

Corrosion is a decrease in material quality caused by environmental influences. One of the methods commonly used to control corrosion is coating. In the coating process, the use of spray is the better method compared to roll and brush. Before coating is applied, the choice of abrasive material during the sand blasting process can determine the success of the coating. This research was conducted to analyze the effect of variations in abrasive material and spray pressure on the coating process of ASTM A36 steel material on its impact resistance, corrosion rate, and adhesion forces. Variation of abrasive material used were steel grit and silica. The spray pressure variations used were 2.5, 3.5, and 4.5 bar. The result of corrosion rate testing on variation with steel grit abrasive material and spray pressure of 4.5 bar has the lowest corrosion rate, with the value of 0.00124 mm/a. The highest adhesion strength test result of 9.07 MPa was obtained from variations with steel grit abrasive material and spray pressure of 4.5 bar. Impact test result using a variation with steel grit abrasive materials and a spray pressure of 4.5 bar yield the highest value, with the value of 2.287 joules.

Abstract

Some marine industries choose to set up their activities in the coastal area northern part of Java Island, Indonesia, by considering the calmness of the Java Sea environment. A special terminal for liquid bulk cargo to transport fuel oil is being planned for construction in Sedayu Lawas village, Lamongan district, East Java Province. The ship carrying cargo oil require a pier and jetty in sufficient depth for loading and unloading. The jetty need to be enhanced to support more equipment for ship to port, which include breasting dolphin, mooring dolphin, trestle, and cause­way. In this respect a study is carried out to review the stress analysis of the mooring lines (ropes) attached to jetty for various mooring dolphin layout and arrangements. The metocean data such as wind and tides in the areas were processed and analyzed. The layout of the ship and mooring dolphin rope angle were designed in accordance with OCIMF code. The stress analysis of mooring rope for various layout mooring dolphin has been analyzed to determine whether the design layout is safe during operation. The rope stress were analyzed using time domain dynamic analysis for 10,800 seconds. The safety of ship during loading for various rope condition were presented. It is suggested that all ropes should be attached to mooring dolphin for ship and port safety.

Abstract

The pier is one of the primary means of sea transportation that continues to be developed to support equity activities and advance the community's economy. Bali is one of the main tourist destinations in Indonesia. The construction of the Sanur Floating Pier will create good connectivity between regions in Bali, which can become an additional tourist destination so that tourists can vacation longer in Bali. The purpose of this study was to determine the strength of the floating jetty structure through an analysis of the loading received by the structure and the resistance of the piles so that they can carry out designs related to the installation of strong and safe floating dock piles. In the analysis process, the author uses the help of Plaxis V.8.6 software to model the soil and AutoCAD 2018 as a support system in making the floating dock pile installation layout. The analysis results show that the floating dock can accept the forces acting on the structure. The UE RPD 250 fender and the T-Head MT 20 type bollard are the right choices. The pile has a lateral force value (H) of 1907 kg with a deflection of 0.19 mm. The greater the number of piles installed on the floating pier, the stronger the structure is evidenced by the smaller pile settlement due to soil changes.

Abstract

The maritime industry is one of the natural resources management industries that uses steel as its fundamental component. Much research and development have been conducted to increase the quality and life span of the steel used. ASTM A36 low-carbon steel is one of the steel variants commonly used on offshore structures because of its advantages. This research was conducted to achieve the additional effect of nano-alumina of 0%, 1,5% and 3% in the epoxy coating on adhesive strength, abrasive resistance and corrosion rate prediction. At pull-off testing, the highest adhesion strength was obtained at a mixed variation of 0% with a value of 7,7022 MPa. At the abrasion resistance test, the highest abrasion resistance was obtained at a mixed variation of 3% with a value of 16.7 grams. The lowest value of the corrosion rate prediction test was obtained on the mixed variation of 1.5% with a value of 0.005410622 mph.
