Abstract

Youth as leadership successors in the future need to be mentored properly by the pastors. Successful mentoring will produce future leaders who are trained and ready to serve in various church ministries in the future. The purpose of this research is to provide an understanding for pastors on how to mentor youth, teach and motivate youth to serve, thus encouraging pastors to be more effective in carrying out their pastoral duties, bringing youth to understand God's calling for all believers. This research used a correlational method. Based on the data analysis conducted, it is concluded that the mentoring carried out by the pastor has a strong relationship with the involvement of youth in the ministry, because with mentoring that is done well by the pastor, it will have an impact on the progress of the ministry and the increase in youth who are involved in the ministry.

Abstract

An evangelistic mission can be successful if it is carried out contextually. One of the mission agencies that has successfully carried out contextual evangelism is the Crossline Family, which carries out a mission to punk children. This study explores the evangelism method used by Crossline Family to punk children. The method used is descriptive qualitative. Informants are leaders and members of the Crossline Family. The writer collected data through interview techniques and analysis of the Crossline Family service journey history, which is documented via video. The study found that Crossline Family uses three methods in evangelizing punk children: 1) relate without judgment, 2) be proactive in being in the midst of their lives and be role models, and 3) convey God's Word through the genre of punk children's songs.

Abstract

This article delves into the profound significance of the Jesus Prayer, as presented by Kallistos Ware, and its role in nurturing spiritual growth and leading believers toward a deeper union with God. By employing a qualitative literature review, this study engages with Ware’s theological perspectives and other relevant insights. The findings highlight how this simple yet powerful prayer—“Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner”—serves as a tool for believers to transcend distractions, cultivate inner peace, and center their hearts on Christ. The research affirms that the Jesus Prayer is not just a repetitive phrase but a pathway to transformation, offering believers a way to experience God’s grace in their everyday lives.

Abstract

Abstract. This research aims to comprehensively analyze the theological anthropology and eschatology of Gregory of Nyssa, from creation to the final restoration (apokatastasis). Using a historical-theological analysis of Gregory's primary texts, particularly De Opificio Hominis, as well as relevant secondary literature, this study systematically traces Gregory's thought. The result indicates that Gregory presents a dynamic vision of humanity as the Imago Dei, possessing a dual nature (microcosm and person), whose vocation to unite with God was interrupted by sin but is restored through the Incarnation and Resurrection of Christ, culminating in a universal restoration (apokatastasis) that transcends, yet does not negate, history and human freedom.

Abstract

Abstract This study examines Christological syncretism in post-Nicene Asia Minor (AD 325–451), moving beyond the traditional orthodoxy–heresy dichotomy. Using an interdisciplinary library research approach, it synthesizes textual evidence, including patristic writings and hagiographies, with archaeological evidence such as architecture, funerary art, and amulets. The findings demonstrate that Christological syncretism functioned along a dynamic spectrum rather than as a single phenomenon. Three operational levels are identified: conscious adaptation, in which pre-Christian forms were reinterpreted without altering Christian doctrine; pragmatic fusion, where Christ’s name and power were incorporated into local ritual practices; and conceptual assimilation, in which Christ’s nature was redefined through regional cultural narratives. The study concludes that syncretism was not merely doctrinal deviation but a significant mechanism of inculturation. By proposing a spectrum model of Christological syncretism, this research offers a nuanced analytical framework for understanding the diversity of lived Christianity in Late Antiquity.

Abstract

The post-digital era has given rise to the phenomenon of phubbing, with a prevalence of 49.3% among young people, creating a crisis of relational spirituality within Christian communities. This research aims to analyze phubbing as a manifestation of digital alienation from a Christian communication theology perspective and construct relational spirituality as its theological antithesis. Through literature study methods with an integrative theological reflection approach, this research explores the phenomenology of phubbing, the framework of relational spirituality, the construction of resistant communities, and the transformation of ministry. Findings indicate that phubbing represents a fundamental crisis in understanding the relational imago Dei, threatening fellowship that reflects Trinitarian love. Relational spirituality offers a comprehensive theological paradigm that integrates the wisdom of Christian tradition with contemporary digital realities. Practical implications include developing theological praxis for forming communities resistant to digital alienation and reconceptualizing pastoral ministry for the post-digital era, as well as creating compelling counter-narratives to digital culture's assumptions about connectivity as a substitute for authentic human development.

Abstract

The development of digital technology in the post-digital era has shaped new patterns in human social and spiritual relationships. Behind the intensity of digital connectivity, a crisis of presence has emerged, marked by a decline in the quality of interpersonal communication and a diminished sensitivity to actual physical presence. One concrete expression of this presence crisis is the phenomenon of phubbing, the practice of ignoring people who are physically present in favor of attention to digital devices. This study aims to analyze phubbing as a form of relational alienation while affirming relational spirituality as a way to embody imago Dei within the framework of Christian communication theology. The study employs a qualitative method through library research with a reflective-theological approach, analyzing theological, sociological, and phenomenological literature related to communication, digitalization, and Christian spirituality. The findings indicate that phubbing is not merely an issue of communication ethics but also a manifestation of a theological crisis of presence, as it diminishes the meaning of human relationships as a reflection of imago Dei. Therefore, relational spirituality, which emphasizes tangible presence, openness, and relational responsibility, is understood as the antithesis of phubbing in the post-digital era. These findings contribute to the development of contextual Christian communication theology and have significant implications for pastoral practice and Christian education in fostering a culture of presence that truly humanizes.
