<![CDATA[This study is intended to determine the efforts to prevent illegal fishing activities by the South Konawe Police, which in fact, the repressive approach is still far from expectations in efforts to eradicate illegal fishing activities. This study uses a type of empirical normative legal research. The legal materials used in the discussion of this research are secondary legal materials obtained through literature study and primary legal materials obtained through interviews. Secondary legal materials and primary legal materials from the research results are analyzed qualitatively based on theory (theoretical approach). The results showed that the efforts to prevent illegal fishing activities by the South Konawe Resort Police had not been carried out optimally. Because they have just carried out legal socialization activities and marine patrols. Meanwhile, policies that can touch the root of the problem of illegal fishing activities (strengthening the economy of local fishing communities) have not been carried out through coordination with the local government. Therefore, the Konawe Selatan Resort Police should coordinate with the local government in an effort to prevent illegal fishing activities.Keywords : Prevention; Illegal Fishing; Resort Police. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk mengetahui upaya pencegahan aktifitas illegal fishing oleh Kepolisian Resor Konawe Selatan, yang sejatinya pendekatan represif masih jauh dari harapan dalam upaya pemberantasan aktifitas illegal fishing. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian hukum normatif empiris. Bahan hukum yang digunakan dalam pembahasan penelitian ini adalah bahan hukum sekunder yang diperoleh melalui studi kepustakaan dan bahan hukum primer yang diperoleh melalui wawancara. Bahan hukum sekunder dan bahan hukum primer dari hasil penelitian, dianalisis secara kualitatif dengan berlandaskan teori (theoretical approach). Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa upaya pencegahan aktifitas illegal fishing oleh Kepolisian Resor Konawe Selatan, belum dilakukan secara maksimal. Karena baru melakukan kegiatan sosialisasi hukum dan patroli laut. Sementara, kebijakan yang dapat menyentuh akar permasalahan terjadinya aktifitas illegal fishing (penguatan perekonomian masyarakat nelayan lokal) belum dilakukan melalui koordinasi dengan pemerintah daerah setempat. Oleh sebab itu, seyogyanya pihak Kepolisian Resor Konawe Selatan melakukan koordinasi dengan pemerintah daerah setempat dalam upaya pencegahan aktifitas illegal fishing.]]>
