Abstract

Today's Balinese language and literature are still alive and growing as a means of communication among the people, especially the Balinese. There are many forms of literary work, one of which is Gaguritan. Gaguritan as a classic literary work implies religious teachings and other knowledge that really need to be studied to understand the values contained in the Gaguritan literature. One of these literary works is in Gaguritan Segara Rupek, which is a classic literary work containing a lot of moral and religious knowledge. Segara Rupek's Gaguritan teachings provide motivation to improve the quality of behavior in society. Judging from its content, the whole Gaguritan Segara Rupek contains quite a lot of religious teachings such as tattwa and ethics. This scientific work is in the form of a descriptive qualitative design. Data was collected using literature and interview methods. From the results of data analysis, it was found that the teachings contained in Gaguritan Segara Rupek included: divine teachings, karmapala, compassion and morals. Keywords: Hindu Religion; Gaguritan Segara Rupek

Abstract

The ancestors of Hindus in Bali had inherited Brahmawidyā texts through the manuscript of Tattva which has been familiar in the religious live. Meanwhile, the publication regarding Brahmawidyā is really limited in the area of research. Due to that reason, the research regarding Brahmawidyā in the Sanghyang Mahājñana Tattva can be an interesting topic to be analysed. This research aims to analyse Brahmawidyā in the Sanghyang Mahājñana Tattva from the aspect of Panca Sradha as the foundation of faith, and also to obtain a deeper insight on the Divinity aspect in Sanghyang Mahājñana Tattva. The method of this research is a literature study with the approach of qualitative research. This study shows that the comprehension of Brahmawidyā teachings is compulsory for Hindu. It is impossible for Sradha (faith) to be strongly persistent without adequate foundation of Brahmawidyā. This research also shows that the Divinity aspect in the Sanghyang Mahājñana Tattva is monotheism immanent.

Abstract

The tradition of megibung (eating together) has existed since the Karangasem kingdom in Lombok under the leadership of I Gusti Anglurah Ketut Karagasem. This tradition is still carried out in the community, usually related to the implementation of the pañca yajña, but lately it has rarely been carried out because there has been a shift with the buffet system which is considered more economical. Apart from being efficient, this is due to the lack of understanding of the younger generation about the meaning contained in the megibung tradition. In fact, the megibung tradition has a social and theological significances. Therefore the author tries to examine the megibung tradition from the perspective of social theology, namely a critical study of socio religious activities. The data obtained through observation, interviews and documentation will be analyzed using a qualitative descriptive method. The research results will be useful for the younger generation of Hindus in Lombok to understand the meaning of the megibung tradition, so that the megibung tradition can be maintained.
