Abstract

The meaning of khodam in pesantren is another name for the help of the selfless Kiai, be it khadam bi al-tabarruk, bi al-Maqsud, which not everyone can become a Kiai khodam, they also help the Kiai in carrying out the duties of the pesantren and the housekeeping and economy for the sake of achieving a goal, namely getting blessings or benefits from a Kiai or teacher, although there are some khodam from outsiders who have never studied at the pesantren, khodam is an alternative for students who want to study at the pesantren but do not have sufficient costs to live it, so that by becoming a khodam, they can get an education with the help of their education costs by the Kiai. The view of the pesantren community regarding the existence of khodam basically, they are very helpful in the success of the educational process, with their existence, the students, ustad and even the general public find it easier to communicate with the caregiver or Kiai, Kiai sees khodam not as a marginalized santri, even, on the other hand, the khodam is already considered part of the pesantren's extended family so there is no difference between regular santri and santri who concurrently become this khodam.

One of the figures who organized this educational modernism movement was Sayyid Akhmad Khan from India with his Aligarh movement called scientific society. Abstract

Abstract:This study aims to unravel the problems of 21st Century education, especially the problems of digital literacy. In principle, 21st century education provides a mandate, one of which is the development of critical thinking skills through digital literacy to students. This research is a library research. The results of this study are that the literacy culture of students is still in a very low position, which is still limited to the ability to access digital information only, even though students live amidst the spread of reading material in the internet world, including in the context of Islamic Religious Education. The novelty in this study, namely critical thinking skills, can be achieved if the literacy skills of students are not only limited to digital literacy but also informational literacy, ethical literacy and functional literacy, especially in the context of Islamic education in Indonesia

Abstract

This study investigated the design, implementation, and implications of classical book (turats) learning tools within the educational framework of Sidogiri Pesantren. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through interviews, focus group discussions, documentation, and observation, and analyzed using an interactive model. The findings reveal that the curriculum and teaching materials for turats learning were collaboratively developed by the Tarbiyah wa Ta’lim Madrasy board (Batartama) and the teaching staff. The instructional process followed a structured sequence—comprising opening, core, and closing activities—while allowing teachers pedagogical flexibility during the core phase. Evaluation focused on both learning outcomes and instructional processes, ensuring a comprehensive assessment of student progress. The implementation of this model fostered an engaging learning environment and enhanced students’ competencies in reading classical texts, as evidenced by their achievements in various turats competitions. The study’s novelty lies in its hybrid learning model, which integrates traditional salaf methodologies with modern pedagogical principles, emphasizing systematic instructional design. Academically, this research contributes a new framework for Islamic education, offering a balanced approach that preserves heritage while embracing innovation. Practically, it serves as a guide for other pesantren seeking to improve the effectiveness of their classical book curricula through structured planning, adaptive teaching strategies, and outcome-oriented evaluation systems.

Abstract

Character education at the elementary school level requires learning experiences that go beyond classroom instruction and allow students to practice positive values in real situations. One of the programs implemented by Cahaya Permata Islamic Elementary School in Malang Regency is MABIT (Faith and Piety Development Night). This community service project aimed to assist the management of the MABIT program as an effort to strengthen students’ character development. The program employed the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach and involved school leaders, teachers, students, and parents throughout the process. The assistance included asset mapping, program planning, implementation, and evaluation activities. MABIT was conducted over two days and one night through a series of activities, including congregational prayers, Qur’anic revision sessions, field exploration, educational competitions, campfire activities, and environmental clean-up programs. The experience showed that the program could be implemented in a well-organized manner through collaboration among teachers, committees, and parents. Beyond its religious dimension, MABIT provided students with opportunities to develop discipline, responsibility, cooperation, and independence through direct participation in various activities. The program also offered the school a practical way to integrate experiential learning into character education and to create learning experiences that are closely connected to students’ daily lives.
