Abstract

The study aims to figure out the forms of vowels in Togutil language (BT). The method is qualitative method. The object in this research is vocabulary that contains the vowel phonemes. The primary data of the research are taken through interview with native speakers of Togutil language in Dodaga Village, Tukur-tukur and Titipa village, districk of Wasile, east Halmahera. The result shows there are eight vocals: /a /, /æ/, /i/, /ɛ/, /e/, /u/, /o/, /ɔ/.

Abstract

This paper aims to identify and determine the use of the elements of cohesion in the shortstory “dalam Perjamuan Cinta” (DPC). The method used is descriptive qualitative methodusing two approaches in discourse, namely the principle of analogy and local principles.The results showed that the appearances of the elements of grammatical cohesion in this reference are demonstrative pronouns and pronominal singular persona is more often foundin every temple of the fictional discourse paragraphs compared with lexical cohesion.

Abstract

Nowadays, language politeness seems to be ignored in communication. It happens not only in Indonesia language usage, but also in vernicular usage. Ternate Malay Language is one of languages that spoken in North Maluku. This study aims to describe the language politeness in Ternate Malay Language, and to explain specifically about the principle of politeness and speech form based on a politeness measurement scale. This study uses a description method with three stages, namely the stage of providing data, data analysis, and presenting the results of data analysis. The results of the study found that the principle of speech politeness was divided into tact maxim, generosity maxim, approbation maxim, modesty maxim, agreement maxim, dan simpathy maxim, while the forms of speech based on language politeness measuring scale was divided into optionality scale, loss and profit (cost-benefit scale), non-sustainability (indirectness scale), authority scale (authority scale), and social distance scale (social distance).
