Abstract

This study reviewed the condition of learning participants’ at the study group of package “C” equivalent to SMA / SMK in the Community Learning Center (PKBM) Nugraha Mandiri which is located at Jalan Sawah Lega number 70 A, Cipageran Village, North Cimahi District, Cimahi City - West Java Province. The condition of learning participants in this research  were psychological constraints.  Psychological constraints in this paper were limited only to : (a) interest in learning; (b) learning motivation; (c) intelligence; and (d) learning activities of the learning participants population. The writing of this study is entitled Psychological Condition Constraints of Learning Participants in Studying English (Study at Learning Group of Package “C” in Community Learning Center/PKBM Nugraha Mandiri Kota Cimahi. The sample taken for this study was all the learning participants totaling 32 people, so this study was also called population research. The study was conducted using observation techniques, document studies, and interviews. While the research approach is a qualitative descriptive approach, which is a study whose purpose is to describe how the activities and conditions of the object under study. The steps for collecting and processing data are as follows: (1) conducting a preliminary study; (2) conduct document studies, observations and interviews; (3) do data processing; data is processed by doing simple calculations such as finding the sum and average amount. The results of the research show that more than 50% of the learning participants face psychological factor constraints, and further this condition affects their learning behavior.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the perceptions of teachers and students towards the implementation of blended learning in English, at high schools in the city of Bandung. The research method adopted for this research is the mix method between qualitative and quantitative. Participants  involved were teachers and students taken randomly from as many as nine senior high schools spread across the city of  Bandung. The technique and data processing were carried out by distributing a questionnaire that each participant had to fill in, the questionnaire   contained seven aspects of how they responded to the advantages each of both teachers and students due to the English blended learning method. After the data were collected, then an analysis was carried out by calculating on the perceptions of teachers and students. The main advantage according to the teachers perception was challenging for teachers in preparing the material and using the media (93% perception responses). Meanwhile, the main advantage according to students perception was that English blended learning could improve their language skills (77% perception responses). As suggestions, it can be conveyed that blended learning can be continued for this era of Covid 19. Keywords:  English, Blended Learning, Teachers’ Perspective, Students’ Perspective

Abstract

This research was about correlation between doing tasks of lecturing (X variable) and doing preparation facing final exam (Y variable). Data used in this research was the students of English Program of STKIP Siliwang Bandung, Semester VII academic year 2015-2016. The research concerns to find out the correlation between two variables observed, preparation doing tasks of lecturing and preparation facing the final exam. To achieve the most accurate results of this research, here researcher choose correlational method. The results of this research shown mean of X variable was 4.30 and mean of Y variable was 4.36. They mean that both activities (doing tasks of lecturing (X variable) and doing preparation facing final exam (Y variable) are high/good. But, the correlation between them was low/not significant, it was indicated by 0,23 scale of Likert. Keywords:  Lecturing, Tasks, Final Exam

Abstract

This study aims at knowing how the effective teaching reading comprehension by using group work discussion method of the tenth grade students at SMKNPlered.The research design which is used in qualitative descriptive with one group.  The subjects of this research were students from Industrial Automation Engineering 2 (TOI 2) of vocational high school Plered. The instruments used were interview, pre-test and post-test with the material recount text. From the reading skill test, the students’ pre-test mean score was 61.55 increasing to 81,89 in the post-test. So, it can be concluded that teaching reading by using group work discussion method an effective improve the students’ reading skill.
