Abstract

This research is motivated by an activity to foster the talents, interests and skills of students in the school, which are called extracurricular activities in cultural arts and dance. This study aims to determine the form of student participation in extracurricular activities in dance culture, as well as factors that inhibit the participation of students in extracurricular activities in dance culture. This study uses a type of descriptive qualitative research aimed at gaining a general understanding of social reality from a participant's perspective. The technique of collecting data through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data is analyzed using Data Reduction, Data Presentation, and Verification of Data and conclusions scientifically. The results of this study indicate the form of student participation in extracurricular activities in dance culture arts. The number of eighth grade students in the MTs Negeri Kota Ternate Ternate is 219 students. Only 50 students participated in extracurricular activities. This shows that the participation of students in extracurricular activities is very minimal. Because students are less interested and less like extracurricular activities in dance culture. Factors that hinder the participation of students in extracurricular activities in dance culture are mostly male students who feel inferior to participate in extracurricular activities in the field of dance culture, this is due to male students assume that extracurricular activities in dance culture are especially for female students. So that students who take extracurricular activities in the art of dance culture are mostly female students compared to male students. Keywords: extracurricular activities, dance culture, learners, participation

Abstract

Penelitian ini di latar belakangi adanya Kondisi pendidikan formal yang belum mengalami perkembangan secara baik, akan tetapi perubahan pola kehidupan masyarakat togutil di Desa Lili sudah berubah, selanjutnya di harapkan kepada pihak pemerintah agar memperhatikan pengembangan pendidikan formal pada  khususnya sehingga masyarakat Suku Togutil dimasa yang akan datang mampu menjawab tantangan yang dihadapi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mengetahui pendidikan formal Suku Togutil di Desa Lili, (2) untuk mengetahui kendala-kendala yang dialami Suku Togutil di Desa Lili dalam melanjutkan pendidikan formal. Sedangkan yang menjadi kajian utama dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kondisi pendidikan formal Suku Togutil di Desa Lili Kecamatan Maba Utara. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yang menggambarkan dan mengungkapkan keadaan di sekitarnya, peristiwa sebagaimana adanya atau mengungkapkan fakta secara lebih mendalam mengenai kondisi yang dapat diamati. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah data primer data sekunder dan yang menjadi penelitih adalah tokoh masyarakat, tokoh pendidikan dan pemerintah desa. Sedangkan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa sebelum ada pendidikan formal Suku Togutil di Desa Lili sangat kental dengan perasaan takut dan malu terhadap orang yang bukan suku togutil. Hal ini yang menyebabkan mereka tidak bisa hidup berdampingan dengan orang lain. Setelah adanya lembaga pendidikan formal Suku Togutil di Desa Lili hidupnya mulai mengalami, perubahan hidup, pola pikir, adat istiadat, kebiasaan, dan taat hukum karena pendidikan formal Suku Togutil di Desa Lili tahun 2019  mengalami perkembangan hal ini di tunjukan bahwa 85 orang anak yang bersekolah di tingkat sekolah dasar (SD), 20 orang anak melanjutkan pendidikan pada lanjut pertama (SLTP) dan melanjutkan pendidikan padah tingkat sekolah menengah atas (SMA) berjumlah 12 orang. Sedangkan kendala-kendala yang dialami masyarakat Suku Togutil dalam melanjutkan pendidikan formalnya yaitu faktor ekonomi yang masih rendah.Kata Kunci: Pendidikan Formal, Suku Togutil, Desa Lili

Abstract

The inculcation of multicultural values among the younger generation, particularly students at all levels of education, must continuously be carried out as an effort to protect them from exclusivist attitudes that may hinder the progress and civilization of humankind. One of the parties that plays an important role in disseminating multicultural values is educators and academics. Based on this concern, the lecturer team from the Civic and Pancasila Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Khairun University, conducted a Community Service Program in the form of a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) entitled “The Urgency of Multicultural Education for Strengthening Students’ Social Character in Coastal Communities” at SMA Tododara Maitara Tengah. The activity was implemented using lecture and discussion methods with the aim of equipping students with good character in facing the era of openness and information exchange. The stages of the activity included site observation, coordination with school authorities, implementation, and evaluation. The results showed that the inculcation of multicultural values at SMA Tododara Maitara Tengah was carried out through classroom learning activities across subjects as well as through positive habituation within the school environment. The implementation included encouraging students not to discriminate in choosing friends based on ethnicity, respecting religious holidays, practicing mutual cooperation during disasters or bereavement, cleaning places of worship, and maintaining environmental cleanliness. The recommendations of this activity are: (1) habituation and exemplary behavior should consistently be cultivated by students, teachers, and school leaders; and (2) multicultural education models should adapt to the development of information and technology as instruments that influence students’ character building.
