Abstract

The partner of this program is a kindergarten in Sleman District, DIY whose condition is still limited. Teaching and learning facilities were limited and some of them in unfit conditions. Based on the observation, two problems were encountered related to the availability of learning facilities. The first problem was the unavailability of facilities for students’ bags and stuff temporary placed during the lesson running. Students put bags and stuff on a rack of potluck or scattered in the classroom hall. The second problem was the unavailability of a cabinet to display student work and as a place to store educational toys. The shelf used did not satisfy the user and was unable to display the student work and store the toy properly. The solution provided was the implementation of ergonomic lockers and also display and store cabinet. Stages of the program covered design, manufacture, implementation, mentoring and evaluation. The implementation of new facilities leads to positive benefits for teachers and students. The facilities support a better process of teaching and learning. Teacher and students can interact with the implemented facilities safely, healthily, comfort, effectively and efficiently.

Abstract

Lockout/tag out (LOTO) refers to specific practices and procedures to stop the release of hazardous energy and turnoff machinery and equipment during service or maintenance activities. An effective LOTO system will ensure the workers are protected from the unexpected conditions during maintenance activities. This paper focus on incidents of LOTO system failures in an electricity power industry. LOTO system had implemented for many years in the company, but many incidents of LOTO system failure was still happened. The purpose of the research was to investigate the cases of incident caused by LOTO procedure failures. The research was conducted using descriptive analytical approach to analyse the cases of incident to find the root causes and develop the solution. Main data used in the research was document of incidents and was analysed by Systematic Cause Analysis Technique (SCAT). The result of investigation showed the root causes of LOTO system failure were caused by individual, job and management factors. Based on SCAT chart synthesis, the control actions were identified. The identified control movement were improve operational procedure of LOTO and proposed job description of supervisor. Evaluation of control action concluded that basically the suggestions were feasible to implement and some adjustments were needed due to implementation.

Abstract

Arrowroot chips are among the best goods in the province of the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The issue is the craftspeople's complaints about producing arrowroot chips, particularly the pounding procedure. Inappropriate and persistent working positions throughout the pounding process lead to employee health issues and may further lower productivity. This service aims to implement work environments, namely designing work tables to manufacture arrowroot chips. The design of the manufacturing table is decided upon through a democratic approach. While creating the production table, ergonomics is used. The final task in the community service projects for arrowroot chip artisans is the design of a manufacturing table, testing its functionality, and teaching others how to maintain one.
