Abstract

Karl Marx and Friedrich Nietzsche are two figures that are considered controversial inreligious studies. Both stated that ‘religion is the opium and the God is dead’ are deemed to havepassed the limits of tolerance. As a result, both are regarded as insane person in their time. When they are examined more deeply, both statements expressed deep concern over thesocial situation of the people that suffer as a result of oppression and domination. In thissituation, religion precisely be one that encourages people to behave naive and counterproductiveto the objectives of humanitarian material. Thus, “religion is the opium and God is dead” aresocial provocation and criticism for people to get out of the traps of stagnation. The purpose of human life is material. For Marx, human nature is working, while forNietzsche, it is the willing to power. This means that human will be humanic if it human is ableto express in productive work that is free from domination and have the will to implement thepowers that are pushing for continually active and creative. Initially, religion supports human tomanifest true humanity but evolved into rituals that hinder the process of humanization.

Abstract

This paper discusses the existence of religion in globalization era.Religious values, which are private, sacral, and transcendent, interact with theglobalization circle, which seems to be contradictory with religion.Globalization is utilitarian  as its nature and it results in vanish of local values or cultures. However, none can avoid, neither can religious people. Responds to globalization frequently occur in extreme behavior since some people thinks that globalization will threat their existence in this world. Such responds make the people labeled as fundamentalists or terrorists, and many of them have religious background.  Some of religious groups extremely rejecting globalization can be found states of former USSR, Japan, and Iran. Finally, this paper presents the forms and  positions of  religion suggested by four figures, i.e. Immanuel Wallerstein, John Meyer, Roland Robertson, and Niklas Luhmann. They suggest that the religions will keep their existence if they adopt the values of globalization and make themselves the instrument of communication as well as political and economic interaction of the world’s interaction. Religion should evolve from narrow mindedness to a broader, new, and universal values.

This gender difference becomes a source of injustice formen and women in their families, society, and state. Abstract

Political choice is a normal phenomenon in a democratic system. However, it would be chaotic when it exists in a group that is socially awakened by mechanical solidarity. Individuality as a principle of democracy is pressed to obtain conformity. Political communalism normaliy happens in cultural groups such as Paguyuban Resik Kubur Jero Tengah, Kalikudi village, District Adipala, Cilacap. Through structuralism approach, solidarity and political choice becomes myth. In solidarity, political choice is projected to maintain harmony through the avoidance of taboos and the production of new values that are different from the habits that have taken place. As a myth, political choices concerning the structure of power have constantiy been established through a long historical process. The task of human being is to adjust the symptoms that occur with determinant historical Structures.
