Abstract

Pesticide is a very important material for protecting plant, animal, and controlling vector-borne diseases. The use of pesticide by farmer at Lake Buyan area is inevitable. The aim of this study is to investigate carbamatepesticide residual contaminant in water of Lake Buyan. This is an observational study to investigate carbamate contaminant in water of Lake Buyan. Samplepreparation for this purposed was carried out following the standard method. GC-MS was employed in order todetermine the carbamate pesticide contaminant.Carbamate pesticide contamination, i.e. carbofurane and methomyl were observed on 55 water samplingpoint taken from 5 zone. The residual contaminant of carbofurane and methomyl were 6.1 and 8.9 ppb, respectively.Total residual contaminant was 15.0 ppb with, which was bellow the threshold concentration of 100 ppb (SKGubernur Bali No. 515 Tahun 2000).

Abstract

Pesticide is a chemical used to destroy or to control any pest that damages plant, animal, etc. Therefore, pesticide is very important for protecting plant, animal, and in controlling vector-borne diseases. The use of pesticideis therefore inevitable. A study to investigate the organophosphate pesticide residue in water of Lake Buyan wascarried out. This is an expost facto study with Analytical Cross Sectional Study design. Sample preparation for thispurposed was carried out following a standard method. Gas chromatography was employed in order to gain theorganophosphate pesticide contaminant.Organophosphate pesticide contaminant, i.e. dimethoate, chlorphyrifos and prophenofos were observed on55 water sampling point taken from 5 zone. The residual contaminant of dimethoate; chlorphyriphose; andprophenophose, were 9.3, 3.5, and 2.1 ppb respectively. Total residual contaminant was 14.9 ppb which was bellowthreshold concentration of 100 ppb (SK Gubernur Bali No. 515 Tahun 2000).

Abstract

The use of pesticide around the Lake Buyan is inevitable. This will introduce pollutant to either thesoil or lake water. In this research, organochlorine pesticide residual contamination in water was investigated. LakeBuyan is used as the investigation model, since there were a lot of pressure to the lake as a consequence of increasinghuman activities such as tourism, hotel and restaurant, and farming. This is an expost facto study with Analytical Cross Sectional Study design, within two step activities, i.e.field study in order to gain sampling zone and obtaining sample needed. Followed by laboratory works in order toobtain pesticide residual contamination on water. Sample preparation for this purposed was carried out following astandard method. Gas Chromathographi was employed in order to gain the pesticide contaminant.Positive organochlorine pesticide contaminant, i.e. DDT and chlorotalonile were observed from 55sampling point of water taken from five sampling zones. DDT in the water was 5.02 ppb which is still bellow themaximum level of 42 ppb. Chlorotalonile in water was 1.99 ppb. There is no threshold value of these pesticideresidues on the Government regulation, however, this contamination is still bellow the RfD which is 15 ppb.
