Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease caused by the pancreas gland being unable to produce glucose-regulating hormone (insulin) and causing hyperglycemia. PERKENI attaches that Indonesia has experienced an increase in ranking from 7th to 5th with the highest number of diabetics in the world. If diabetes mellitus is not treated seriously, there will be microvascular complications that trigger coronary heart disease due to the buildup of cholesterol in the blood vessels. This study aims to determine whether there is a long-standing relationship with type 2 diabetes mellitus and blood sugar levels with total cholesterol levels in the outpatient polyclinic of Pertamina Bintang Amin Husada Hospital Bandar Lampung in 2021. The type of this study was observational analytic with cross sectional method using purposive sampling. as many as 83 samples of type 2 DM patients who met the inclusion criteria. Based on the results of the study with a total of 83 samples, the majority of the sexes were female 48 people (57.8%), age >45 years were 59 people (71.1%), duration of suffering >1 year were 57 (68.7%), levels of blood sugar when (GDS) <200 mg/dl as many as 42 people (50.6%). And cholesterol levels > 200 mg/dl as many as 62 people (74.7%). The results of the Spearman correlation between the length of suffering from type 2 diabetes and total cholesterol obtained p = 0.037 and r = + 0.229. In the results of the Spearman correlation, the relationship between blood sugar levels and total cholesterol obtained a value of p = 0.000 and r = + 0.394, because the value of p = 0.000 and p = 0.037 <0.05 so that it can be stated that there is a significant relationship between variables

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic or long-term condition that occurs due to high blood sugar levels caused by the inability of the pancreas to be able to produce enough insulin or even unable to produce insulin. The number of uncomplicated type 2 DM patients who were hospitalized at Pertamina Bintang Amin Husada Hospital Bandar Lampung in the January-October 2021 was 497 patients. This observational analytic study with cross sectional method used a total sampling of 30 samples of type 2 DM patients who met the inclusion criteria. Data collection began in January 2022. Data were evaluated by chi-square test. The research sample was 30 patients with type 2 DM with a duration of suffering >5 years as many as 15 patients and <5 years as many as 15 patients, with a mean blood sugar level (GDS) of 223, the lowest GDS 87 and the highest GDS 530. The mean creatinine level of patients Type 2 diabetes mellitus out of 30 respondents was 0.9 with the lowest creatinine level 0.2 and the highest 3.2. The results of the chi-square correlation between the length of suffering from type 2 diabetes and creatinine levels obtained p value = 0.048, because the p value = 0.048 <0.05 so it can be stated that there is a relationship. In the results of the chi-square correlation between blood sugar levels and creatinine levels, the p value = 0.060, because the p value = 0.060 > 0.05, it can be stated that there is no significant correlation between blood sugar levels and creatinine levels in type 2 DM patients.

Diabetes mellitus can affect the quality of life of patients because diabetes mellitus will accompany a lifetime of patients with diabetes mellitus, if the treatment done to patients with diabetes mellitus is not appropriate. to determine the relationship between long-suffering from diabetes mellitus and blood sugar levels with quality of life in patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus. this research uses observational analytical method and with cross sectional approach. based on the results of this study found that the most respondents who have a good quality of life is from the old group suffering from Type 2 diabetes mellitus >10 years as many as 31 (55.4%) respondents, and from the group of blood sugar levels 140-200 mg/dl sebnyak 29 (56.9) respondents. there is a relationship between long-suffering from Type 2 diabetes mellitus with quality of life with the results of p-value = 0.000 (p<0.05). It is known that there is a relationship between blood sugar levels and quality of life with the results of p-value = 0.000 (p<0.05).
