Abstract

The purpose of this research is to get the extent of the congregation's understanding of premarital guidance correctly. In this study, the authors used a qualitative research method, namely, a questionnaire to the Seventh-day Adventist Church in North Karo district with a sample of 150 randomly selected people. The study results indicate that, in general, respondents understand premarital guidance. However, on the other hand, they argue that premarital guidance is a requirement for marriage. They often attend a premarital counseling series when they havedetermined the date of their marriage. The expected implication of this research is that the congregation can properly understand the purpose of premarital guidance so that they come not to get married but to understand marriage.
