Abstract

Pemecahan masalah merupakan salah satu kompetensi siswa yang dikembangkan pada kurikulum pembelajaran matematis dalam menghadapi setiap permasalahan baik di pembelajaran maupun di kehidupan sehari-hari. Fokus penelitian ini adalah memperoleh gambaran tentang kesulitan siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematis di salah satu SMP Negeri di kabupaten Lombok Timur, NTB, Indonesia. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini adalah 29 siswa kelas VIII yang terdiri dari 14 siswa laki-laki dan 15 siswa perempuan pada tahun ajaran 2017/2018. Pemilihan partisipan dilakukan dengan purposifsampling. Metodologi penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan menggunakan instrumen tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah, interview, observasi, dan studi dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) siswa tidak mampu memahami, mengidentifikasi, dan menafsirkan masalah dengan baik dan benar, (2) siswa tidak mampu membuat representasi masalah ke dalam model matematis, (3) siswa tidak mampu menjalankan strategi penyelesaian masalah yang telah dibuat dengan benar, (4) siswa tidak mampu melakukan perhitungan dengan benar dan teliti, (5) semua siswa tidak mampu membuat strategi alternatif penyelesaian masalah, dan (6) hampir semua siswa terindikasi kesulitan dalam aspek bahasa, seperempat siswa dalam aspek konsep/pemodelan, dan hampir separuh siswa dalam aspek terapan.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Mathematical High Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) problem solving is part of students' abilities which require creativity, criticality, and student analysis in solving both simple and complex problems. This study aims to analyze the ability of junior high school students in solving mathematics HOTS problems. This research uses a case study-based qualitative approach. Research participants consisted of 30 students consisting of 13 male students and 17 female students in class VIII at one of the public junior high schools in East Lombok, NTB, in the odd semester of the 2020-2021 academic year. The research sample was determined by purposive sampling. The instrument used was a description test of HOTS questions and interviews. The results showed that the ability of junior high school students in solving HOTS questions was still low both in understanding problems, making problem representations, developing strategies, and executing strategies.

Abstract

This research aims to: (1) developing physics module based on scientific to improve student’s critical thinking competency, (2) knowing the appropriateness of physics learning module based on scientific. The research type that is used is the type of development research (Research and Development), and the model of module development that is used is 4-D (four D model) consisting of Define, Design, Develop and Disseminate that is stated by Thiagarajan. The learning module based on scientific is arranged for the learning participants actively construct the concept, the law or principle through 5 stages of 5 M which are mengamati (observing), menanya (interviewing), mencoba (trying), menalar (reasoning), and mengkomunikasikan (communicating). The module is judged based on the appropriateness of material, media, and language and limited trials and wide trials to the student and the stage of spread in the MGMP forum. The data collection uses the questionnaire of necessity analysis, the form of module validation, the questionnaire of trial response (limited and spacious), the questionnaire of disseminate response, and the test of critical thinking. The results of the research are as follow: (1) physics module based on scientific to improve the student’s critical thinking competency having a characteristic which is learning the learning stage on the module is adapted with scientific learning stage in each of the stage and loads the test question of critical thinking, (2) the module is categorized feasible with the counting result (material expert, media expert, linguist, teacher, and colleague) showing the average value which is 85 >cut off 84. Also, it is supported by the student’s positive response and the disseminate result that is conducted in MGMP forum that categorizes that the module is very good. Based on the research it can be concluded that the physics module based on scientific to improve the students’ critical thinking competency that is developed is feasible to use as the source of physics learning source.

Abstract

This research which is entitled validity of the mathematics learning module on the ethnomathematics-based material of the Sasak community in junior high school aims to develop module as teaching materials based on Ethnomatematics on the material of build flat side. The research method used is a research development method which is used to produce a developed module and to test the effectiveness. The product developed is a junior high school mathematics module. The validity of module in this research is based on the feasibility of the standard of the material, media and culture module. The quality of the module validity meets the valid criteria in terms of material, media, and culture with scores of 186, 65 and 4 respectively. Thus, the mathematics learning module on the ethnomathematics-based material of the Sasak community in junior high school which is developed in this research is valid.
