Abstract

This research was aimed at finding out the effect of example non example model towards students’ vocabulary mastery at the first grade students of SMAN 4 Mataram. This research was an experimental research with quasi experimental and category of this research was non-equivalent control group design. The population of this research was the first grade students of SMAN 4 Mataram consist of 210 students. The instrument that used to collect the data was test consisted of post test. The data was analysis using statistical formula of t-test. The result of data analysis showed that the value of t-test was 4.39 and t-table 2.00. So the value of t-test is higher than t-table in significance level 0.05 and degree of freedom 62-2. It meant that t-critical value was significant for this confidence level. So that way, alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. Therefore, it could be concluded that there was an effect of using example non example to teach vocabulary at the first grade students of SMAN 4 Mataram.

Abstract

This research was aimed at find out whether or not using Task Based Intructionhas positive effect toward students’ interest in learning English vocabulary. Thisresearch was an experimental research. The population the second year students of SMPN 1 Sambelia in academic year 2021/2022 was 209 students. The sample of the research was 54 students. The sample was taken by cluster random sampling technique. The instrument that was used test (20 items) and questionnaire. The score were analyzed by used descriptive and inferential analysis. Descriptive analysis was used to describe mean, mode, median, and standard deviation of group according to AnasSudijono:2007, and inferential analysis was used to describe the value of t-test for comparison between t-table. It was showed that the value of-test = 2.575 was higher than the value of t-table = 1.675. So, using Task Based Intruction approach has positive effect toward students’ interest in learning English vocabulary at SMPN 1 Sambelia.

The results of the first cycle show an improvement, with 16 out of 31 students, or 51.62 percent, experiencing an increase in vocabulary. The results of Cycle II revealed those 26 out of 31 students, or 83.87 percent, improved their vocabulary, and the questionnaire revealed that 87.09 percent of students increased their motivation to learn English vocabulary. As a result, the CAKE-Learn English Application was able to increase students' motivation to learn English vocabulary. Students can collaborate in groups and assist one another through the use of this media.

Abstract

This research is aimed to find out the effect of definitions toward students’ vocabulary mastery: it was an experimental study at the second grade student of MTs NW Haqqul Yaqin Sayang- sayang. The subject of this research was the second grade of MTs NW Haqqul Yaqin Sayang- sayang. The research was used experimental method with quantitative approach. The population of this research consist of 55 students, and the sample is 29 for experimental group while 26 for control group. The technique of collecting data was used definition for experimental group and matching word with antonym for control group. The data was collected by using post-test only and the data was analyzed by t-test formula. Based on data analysis the mean score of experimental group was 76,4 and control group was 69,23, beside of that standard deviation for experimental group was 114,28 and for control group was 113,09 and the value of t-test was 2,44 and t-table was 2,000. Degree of freedom is 53 with significant level 0,05. It means that the value of t-test was higher than t-table (t-test ˃ t-table). The alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. Thus, the conclusion of this research was there was an effect of definition toward students’ vocabulary mastery: an experimental study at the second grade students of MTs NW Haqqul Yaqin Sayang-sayang.
