Abstract

This research discusses the implementation of giving task by using Mind Mapping method. Using Mind Mapping method is hoped that it can help the students to understand and to improve the students’creativity. This research is taken to 20 students of XII Science 3 of MAN 1 Gunungkidul. The teacher watches the students’activity and their team work. This research can be said success after the students get the score > 7.00. it gets >80% and it means that it reaches improvement in the students’activity. The method that is used in this research is Class Action Research. This research run in two cyles. Every cycle uses the procedures of planning, doing, observation and reflection. From the result in the first cycle, the students can get > 7.00 that is 54,54% with the creativity level is average. Based on the first cycle, it is continued to the second cycle. In the second cycle, the students get the mark > 7.00, it gets 81.81 % with the activity level is high. It is matched with the hope that this research can optimalize the students’ ability in mastering the english vocabulary in the second cycle. Based on the research it can be concluded that the method of Mind Mapping can make the students ability in mastering english vocabulary optimal. It can improve the efectivity of the students’ English learning.

Abstract

Abstract This Research is aimed to describe how the steps of Vocabulary Mastery Teaching are and how far the Card Teaching Media can increase the students of XII Science 1 MAN 1 Gunungkidul vocabulary mastery learning on Semester 1 at the school year 2018/2019. This Card Game Media is hoped can give advantages for the students, teachers and school. This Research uses a Research Action Class (PTK) which is known as Classroom Action Research (CAR). This research is conducted by the subject teacher that is helped by the peers as the collaborators. This research procedure uses Kemmis and Taggart model that contains four components in every cycle. Those are: (1) Planning, (2) Acting, (3) Observing and (4) Reflecting. This research is conducted in 2 cycles. The learning method that is used in this research is scientific method (Observing, Questioning, Trying, Reasoning and Presenting). The learning steps are that the teacher makes group of five students, then also chooses the host of the game and the scorer of the game. The teacher is the facilitator. The research result shows that the ‘Card Game Media’ can increase the students’ learning vocabulary outcomes. Subjects of the research are 20 students consists of 4 boys and 16 girls. The highest score in cycle I is 100, the lowest score in cycle I is 50. In cycle II, the highest score is 100, the lowest score is 50, so in cycle I and cycle II the result is the same. The average score in cycle I is 75 and in the cycle II is 85.94, so, there is the increase score in the average score as 10.94. In the classical completeness of cycle I is 80% while in the cycle II is 93.75%, so there is the increase in classical completeness as 3.75%. Keywords: Card Game Media, English Vocabulary Mastery Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana langkah-langkah pembelajaran penguasaan kosakata Bahasa Inggris dan sejauh mana media pembelajaran kartu dapat meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata Bahasa Inggris siwa kelas XII MIPA 1 MAN 1 Gunungkidul pada semester 1 tahun ajaran 2018/2019. Hasil dari penelitian ini diharapkan dapat bermanfaat bagi siswa, guru maupun sekolah. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang dikenal dengan Classroom Action Research (CAR). Penelitian dilaksanakan oleh guru mata pelajaran dibantu oleh teman sejawat sebagai kolabolator. Prosedur penelitian ini mengikuti model Kemmis dan Taggart yang meliputi empat komponen dalam setiap siklus, yaitu: (1) Perencanaan (Planning), (2) Tindakan (Acting), (3) pengamatan (Observing), dan (4) Reflecsi (Reflecting). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam 2 siklus. Pembelajaran dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode saintifik (Mengamati, Menanya, Mencoba, Menalar, Menyajikan). Langkah-langkah pembelajarannya adalah guru memberikan glossary daftar kata beserta artinya kepada siswa untuk di pelajari. Kemudian guru mulai membagi siswa dalam kelompok bermain masing-masing kelompok berjumlah 5 siswa. Guru juga menunjuk host dan scorer. Guru bertindak sebagai fasilitator. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa Media Pembelajaran Kartu dapat meningkatkan hasil penguasaan kosakata bahasa Inggris. Jumlah subyek penelitian sebanyak 20 siswa yang terdiri dari siswa putra 4 siswa, siswa putri sebanyak 16 siswa. Nilai tertinggi pada siklus I adalah 100, nilai terendah 50, Pada siklus II nilai tertinggi 100, nilai terendah 50 sehingga nilai tertinggi maupun nilai terendah pada siklus 1 dan siklus II sama. Nilai rata-rata pada siklus 1 yaitu 75 sedangkan pada siklus 2 sebesar 85.94, sehingga terdapat kenaikan sebesar 10.94. Pada ketuntasan klasikal siklus 1 sebesar 80%, pada siklus 2 sebesar 93.75% sehingga ada kenaikan ketuntasan secara klasikal sebesar13.75%. Kata Kunci: Media Pembelajaran Kartu, Penguasaan Kosakata
