Abstract

The growth and development of children under five is very important to be monitored, considering that this period is the golden age period during the child's development. Some children experience developmental delays or disorders. One of the developmental disorders that is often encountered is a delay in speech. Early detection of language and speech disorders will greatly help parents to describe whether their children have speech delays or other disorders. However, many parents do not have sufficient knowledge about language and speech disorders. Based on this condition, this study aims to determine the effectiveness of early detection of language and speech disorders at Anyelir Posyandu and Sekar Asih Posyandu to raise awareness about the importance of early detection for toddlers. This study used a qualitative approach with data collection through the technique of interview, observation, and documentation study. The results of the study show that the level of awareness among parents increases towards the growth and development of their child's language after parents get information about early detection of language and speech disorders. By doing early detection on the problems experienced by their children, parents can get further information and treatment if needed.

Abstract

The communication process will occur if there are at least two people exchanging information through the codes conveyed by the speaker and also the codes understood by the listener. Meanwhile, dysaudia is a speech impediment that is directly related to hearing impairment resulted in the inability of the sufferer to communicate well verbally. This study aims to determine the implementation and success rate of auditory perception decoding exercises to improve response to sound on a Bilateral Profound Disaudia client. This research used a single-subject experiment. Data were collected through techniques of interview to the client's parents, direct observation of the client, and study of the client's medical record document. The collected data were then analyzed to draw conclusions. Results of the study showed that after 20 meetings of therapy using the Decoding Exercise method, the ability of the client response toward sound increased from 0 in the initial test to 3 in the final test with a success percentage of 37.5%. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the application of decoding exercises to improve the response to sound on the profound bilateral dysaudia client is quite successful.

Abstract

Functional articulation disorder refers to difficulty in pronouncing speech sounds without any organic abnormalities in the structure or function of the speech organs. This study aims to evaluate the application and effectiveness of the moto-kinesthetic method in improving the articulation of the apicoalveolar consonant /n/ in a 5-year-old child with functional articulation disorder. The research method was a case study  with purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through interviews with the patient’s family, direct observation, as well as pre-test and post-test assessments to determine diagnosis, prognosis, and appropriate intervention strategies. The intervention consisted of ten therapy sessions using the moto-kinesthetic approach, which focuses on physical manipulation of the speech organs to support accurate articulation. Results showed an improvement in the child's articulation ability from the score of 0 to 4, representing a therapy success rate of 80%. These findings indicate that the moto-kinesthetic method is effective for treating articulation disorders, particularly in the pronunciation of the /-n/ sound, and may serve as a viable intervention strategy in clinical speech therapy practice.
