Calendar is an expression of the rhythm of collective activity and at the same time serves to ensure its order. Therefore, various civilizations from ancient times to the present give serious attention to arranging their calendar systems in accordance with the philosophy, outlook on life and traditions of the civilization. Determining the almanac is a reality produced by a handful of elites (read: important groups of people in power in society) who are full of interests. The Arabs used to apply the almanac based on the solar system (Sun), then switch to the lunar system (Moon). The pre-Islamic Arabs had the habit of counting the months with the appearance of the new moon, but irregularly added once a month in three years to harmonize the date with the seasons, so that it was not purely applying the lunar calendar but rather the luni-solar system. This intercalarymonth was then used by pre-Islamic Arabs as a tool to play the month of Muharram which was forbidden to carry out warfare. Qs. At-Taubat: 36 confirms the prohibition of the practice of intercalation (an-nasi ') and the commencement of a lunar-based calendar system. ABSTRAKRukyat merupakan suatu proses pengamatan/observasi yang tergolong sangat membutuhkan persiapan serta mata yang terlatih karena melihat hilal yang redup dalam skala waktu singkat dengan langit latar belakang yang relatif masih terang sangat membutuhkan linearitas deteksi yang memadai. Kiranya jelas bahwa rukyat yang tidak lain merupakan observasi astronomi adalah proses yang hendaknya juga memanfaatkan kemajuan teknologi. Maka observatorium sebagai salah satu sarana para astronom muslim dalam pengamatan hilal hendaknya memperhatikan hal-hal yang dapat menunjang keberhasilan rukyat dengan alat. Tersedianya berbagai tempat penelitian astronomi (observatorium) merupakan syarat utama bagi terciptanya kemajuan ilmu tersebut.Jangan harap suatu Negara dapat mengalami perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan yang pesat jika tidak menyediakan lembaga penelitian yang memadai. Umumnya ketetapan kebolehnampakan hilal didasarkan pada tinggi bulan, beda azimuth dan umur bulan. Akan tetapi faktor penentu seperti kondisi atmosfer di sekitar tempat pengamatan perlu diperhatikan.Keberhasilan pengamatan benda langit umumnya sangat dipengaruhi oleh kondisi atmosfer khususnya kondisi cuaca yang dipengaruhi oleh unsur-unsur tekanan udara, suhu udara, kelembaban udara, polusi udara, arah dan kecepatan angin yang menyebabkan terjadinya fenomena cuaca seperti hujan, kabut dan lain-lain. Fenomena tersebut akan mempengaruhi jarak pandang secara mendatar atau terhalangnya benda langit yang dilihat oleh seseorang. Faktor yang tak kalah pentingnya selain alat yang melengkapi observatorium adalah sumber daya manusia yang memiliki wawasan astronomi luas dan mendalam, serta kemampuan yang memadai dalam elektronika modern dan piranti lunak maupun keras dari komputer.Â Kata kunci; Observasi, Observatorium, Hilal

Background to the problem: Based on data from the Central Bureau of Statistics, it was stated that in mid-2023, the population of Indonesia was 278.69 million. There was an increase of 1.09% from the previous year. The increasing number of productive ages led to an explosion of demographic bonuses in Indonesia. The increasing number of people vulnerable to various types of conflict and the most vulnerable and sensitive conflict is religious conflict. The Indonesian government has begun implementing religious moderation as a form of anticipation of religious conflict. The Al Zaytun Indramayu Polemic in West Java is a religious conflict, which is considered to have committed blasphemy in the form of implementing worship at the Al Zaytun Islamic Boarding School which is different from Islamic teachings and is linked to the issue of populism ahead of the 2024 election. This study aims to analyze descriptively the polemic of Al Zaytun, populism in the application of religious moderation ahead of the 2024 election. Research Method: in this study using qualitative methods with a literature review approach and news on digital media. Research Conclusion: Understanding religious moderation in framing the Al Zaytun controversy news is indeed It is inevitable that there will be conflicts, differences in the pattern of worship carried out by the Al Zaytun Islamic Boarding School in the concept of understanding of the Indonesian people who are predominantly Muslim, causing polemics and considered controversy for Muslims who are used to worshiping according to the teachings of the Islamic religion. political intrigue ahead of the 2024 election. Religious moderation is an important thing that must be reviewed if it is linked to the Al Zaytun polemic so that the meaning in implementing religious moderation does not justify teachings that are proven to be contrary to Islamic religious law. Religious moderation mediated in digital space is news that shapes diversity opinions and conflicts that need to be handled by all related parties in a win-win solution.
