Abstract

Degraded peat swamp forest in Central Kalimantan influence the economic activities of community around the forest. The terrible activities of the community have exploited the forest, and it must stop now with more solution to make a new sustainable livelihood. Now, forest can’t support us in increasing the economic values for the community. The effects of losing the forest are the earth temperate will rise, we can’t find wood for tools and also non-timber forest product. The aims of those activities are for indirect protecting activities for the forest area and rehabilitation action with purun cultivation and to optimizing purun for industrial activities of purun handicraft. There are two activities for saving the forest socialization and training of purun handicraft for the community without destroying the last forest it. The activities have done in Rantau Kujang village of South Barito District Central of Kalimantan on 23rd November 2017 supported by Indonesian Climate Changes Trust and Fund (ICCTF) with Focus Group Discussion method and the intensive training for the community about purun cultivation and processing the industrial purun handicraft. The results are community have a more new idea for sustainable livelihood without destroyed their forest. Before our training, the Community only can break their forest, but now they have found more idea for economic activities and sustainable act for the forest. The community needs a support and suggestion to found more livelihood activities with a link for marketing and the right cultivation.

Abstract

Socialization of non-timber forest product utilization as one form of the management of forest area with special purpose of Palangka Raya City is implemented and centered in meeting hall of Mungku Baru sub-distict of Rakumpit of Palangka Raya city. The socialization was conducted using the funding of fiscal inthe year of 2015. The purpose of community service is creating of awareness and participation of the people around the forest area with special purpose to take care of and utilize the forest products sustainably; empowerment and participation of the people around forests aimed at achieving sustainable forest resource management and improving the welfare of forest villagers. The target community in this socialization activity is the community in Mungku Baru Sub-District of Rakumpit of Palangka Raya City with their economic activity mostly still depend on the existence of forests and fields around the forest. Non-timber forest products that can be utilized by the people such as gamor skin, honey, resin gum, and traditional medicines. Population of pilau/damar (Agathis borneensis) is very large in the forest education of University of Muhammadiyah Palangkaraya, which is spread naturally in an area of approximately 2,500 Ha. The resin copal can be harvested without damaging and cutting down trees, so that forest conservation can be maintained. University of Muhammadiyah Palangkaraya as one of the forest managers of education is committed to help the welfare of the villagers around the forest. Cooperation system offered is buying and selling resin copal.

Abstract

This research departs from the concerns that occur at this time with the nature that has started not friendly with living things in it, it can be felt like rainfall in the dry season or vice versa, many animals are becoming extinct due to higher earth temperatures, the ozone layer that began thinning which is the heat that feels stinging the skin. Maintaining the preservation of the environment is part of the noble character that must be applied in the midst of human life. This is done by maintaining the sustainability of life in the world and preventing damage, disasters that can occur coupled with the greedy human attitude by destroying nature. These forests are the source of this natural force as water stores, oxygen producers, carbon dioxide absorber, germplasm sources, sources of food and food, wildlife habitats that if not properly managed will become extinct and the survival of life on earth will end. Meanwhile, the religion of Islam as the religion Rahmatan Lil 'Alamin ordered mankind to maintain and preserve the forest as a living environment, the human being made God on this earth as khalifah, interesting Islam Islam has its own point of view about forest conservation.

Abstract

UMP’s University forest 4.910 ha with lowland type and peat swamp forest types habitat have many potentials of forest products especially nontimber forest product (NTFP) like latex, resin, honey, traditional medicine and ornamental plant near animal hunting (for stoping program). NTFP is one opportunity of the community to rising of economic values to make a management model for conservation base on the community with more participating to protect the forest. The research method is an NTFP inventory for 2 forest habitats to searching the market opportunity and community focus group discussion (FGD) to combine the data and community assumption. The result of this research Is we can found an effective model of forest protection with economical community participated in our forest for NTFP. NTFP potential in UMP’s University Forest is damar batu (resin), kopal damar (resin), latex of jelutung, rattan and traditional medicine. We need a more fascinating program and socialization activities for the community for other NTFP in UMP’s University Forest. The most productive of 2015-2016 is a resin of Shorea collection by the community with average 50kg/day per collector and average of community income Rp. 125.000,00/day per collector.

Abstract

Ramin’s growth and development is very slowly and have many inhibited factore, there are seed specific character with hard coating, too difficult for vegetative propagation, and limited abundant because seedling is very depend to sustainable nature, so there are caused how ramin is rare now. Ramin propagation have done in Sebangau National Park in 2010 with 5 ha wide area of Genepoolin two areas, 3ha area inSungai Koran and 2 ha in Stasiun Riset Lapangan (SSI). In Genepool area development hasn’t have database for growth and development of ramin.This research aim are to monitoring and evaluation growth endurance and to know how about ramin to decreasing in Genepool area. The parameter of this research is growth endurance, high, diameter and laef growth of Ramin seedling, pest and diseases. Growth endurance percentase for 5 year of growth is 60,70%, average of high 1,42 m, average of diameter 1,69 cm, average of leaf growth 17,61 helai, existence of pest and diseases is insecta attack and human activity. Need a socialiszationabout Genepool existence for minimizing ramin damaged caused human activities.

Abstract

The aim of the research is to know the values of acacia expansion in Taman Wisata Alam Bukit Tangkiling at 500 ha at Bukit Batu district of Palangka Raya The conditions of Taman Wisata Alam Bukit Tangkiling have done reforestasi but this area hsve a specific vegetation there are acacia domination. Acacia"s root have a allelopaty matter, itscia can be erwenom to other plant then acacia can be expansi to all area. The method of this research is Vegetation analysis to know stand potention with 3 strip sampling 100 x 20 m with gap between strip are 50 meter. Intensitas sampling 0,12% for area 500 ha. The result of this research is the value of acacia expansion in TWA Bukit Tangkiling is 63,71%. This monitoringis canbe use to be a database, and scientiJic studies to definite some treotment to solve this expansion and save the endemic species in TIIA Bukit'fangkiling.
