Abstract

ABSTRAKKemampuan berbahasa asing merupakan hal penting dalam persaingan dunia bisnis kuliner di masa modern ini. Melalui artikel yang dibuat berdasar atas kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat khususnya ditujukan untuk siswa SMK Kartini, Semarang. Pengabdian berupa pelatihan English reading skill for culinary business. Tujuannya untuk melatih siswa SMK Kartini, Semarang dalam membaca dan memahami konteks kalimat dalam bidang bisnis kuliner berbahasa Inggris. Pelatihan di laksanakan dengan membekali siswa berupa materi atau teori dilanjutkan dengan praktek atau latihan memahami teks berbahasa inggris. Dalam pelatihan ini siswa bisa mengidentifikasi makna dan konteks bacaan berbahasa Inggris dengan baik dan benar. Diharapkan nantinya siswa jurusan tata boga SMK Kartini, Semarang bisa bersaing dalam dunia bisnis kuliner dengan menguasai bahasa komunikasi internasional yaitu Bahasa Inggris. Kata kunci: Pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris, Pembelajaran Reading skill and Comprehension, Culinary business. ABSTRACTIn the competitive world of culinary business, the skill to speak a foreign language is important in this modern era. Through these articles made based on community service activities specifically aimed at students of Kartini Vocational School, Semarang. Dedication in the form of training in English reading skills for culinary business. The aim is to train students of SMK Kartini, Semarang in reading and understanding the context of sentences culinary business in English. The training is carried out by equipping students with material or theory followed by practice in understanding English texts. In this training, students can properly and correctly recognize the context of English reading. It is expected that later students in the culinary majors at SMK Kartini, Semarang can compete in the culinary business world by mastering the language of international communication namely English. Keyword: English learning, Learning Reading skill and Comprehension, Culinary business.

Abstract

In the competitive world of construction and property business, the skill to speak and to read a foreign language is important in this modern era. Through these articles made based on community service activities specifically aimed at students of Central Java Vocational School, Semarang. Dedication in the form of training in English Reading Skills for construction and property business. The aim is to train students of SMK Central Java, Semarang in reading and understanding the context of sentences construction and property business in English. The training is carried out by equipping students with material or theory followed by practice in understanding English texts. In this training, students can properly and correctly recognize the context of English reading. It is expected that later students in the contruction and property business majors at SMK Central Java, Semarang can compete in the conctruction and property business world by mastering the language of international communication namely English. Keyword: English learning, Learning Reading skill and Comprehension, construction and property business.

Abstract

Folklore is a medium in learning English because it has a context of stories that are close to language learners to make it easier to understand. This study aims to determine and correct errors in learning English based on folklore. The method used in this research is English Language learning using a descriptive and evaluation method. researchers use descriptive and evaluative methods. In the use of descriptive methods, the research process begins with drafting basic assumptions and thought rules to be used in research. In the evaluative method, the process of using this method is to evaluate the teaching materials in the use of folklore. The results obtained from this study are knowing weaknesses and errors in learning, especially writing, reading, and speaking to 20 students. Researchers also provide guidance to correct errors in writing, reading and speaking. Keywords: English Language Teaching (ELT), Folklore, Research and Development.
