Abstract

ABSTRACTThe skills in writing official letters of grade VI SD Negeri 2 Sukamaju, Indihiang District, Tasikmalaya City are still low. This happens because students lack practice so that students have difficulty writing official letters. This study aims to describe the improvement of formal letter writing skills and changes in student behavior after being given contextual learning from the components of the learning community. This research is a Classroom Action Research which is conducted in two cycles. The subjects in this study were all students of grade VI, totaling 30 people. The results showed that the students' skills in writing official letters had increased after learning with a contextual approach to the learning community components. The class average score on the pre-action test reached 67.63 and was in the moderate category. After the learning action was carried out in the first cycle, the students' average score increased to 77.1 and was included in the sufficient category. The average value in the first cycle has not met the determined assessment target, so it is necessary to carry out learning actions in cycle II. After the second cycle of learning action was carried out, the average score of the students' official letter writing test increased by 15.47. The class average score on the second cycle test reached 83.1 and had met the determined assessment target because it was in the good category. Based on these results the application of a contextual approach to the components of the learning society was able to improve students' official letter writing skills.Keywords: writing skills, official letter, contextual approach, component of the learning communityABSTRAKKeterampilan menulis surat resmi siswa kelas VI SD Negeri 2 Sukamaju Kecamatan Indihiang Kota Tasikmalaya masih rendah.Terjadinya hal ini karena kurangnya siswa dalam berlatih oleh sebab itu siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam kegiatan menulis surat resmi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsi peningkatan keterampilan menulis surat resmi dan perubahan tingkah laku siswa setelah diberikan pembelajaran kontekstual komponen masyarakat belajar. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Subjek pada penelitian yakni seluruh siswa kelas VI dengan jumlahnya 30 orang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan keterampilan menulis surat resmi siswa setelah dilaksanakan pembelajaran dengan pendekatan kontekstual komponen masyarakat belajar. Pencapaian nilai rata-rata kelas pada tes pratindakan yakni 67,63 dan tergolong  kategori cukup. Setelah dilaksanakan tindakan pembelajaran pada siklus I, nilai rata-rata siswa terjadi peningkatan yakni 77,1 dan tergolong kategori cukup. Nilai rata-rata pada siklus I belum mencapai ketentuan target penilaian oleh karenanya diperlukan tindakan pembelajaran siklus II. Setelah dilaksanakan tindakan pembelajaran siklus II, nilai rata-rata tes menulis surat resmi siswa terjadi peningkatan sebanyak 15,47. Pencapaian nilai rata-rata kelas pada tes siklus II yakni 83,1 dan sudah memenuhi ketentuan target penilaian sebab tergolong kategori baik. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut pendekatan kontekstual pada komponen masyarakat belajar yang diterapkan mampu menyebabkan meningkatnya keterampilan penulisan surat resmi siswa.Kata Kunci: keterampilan menulis, surat resmi, pendekatan kontekstual, komponen masyarakat belajar.
