Abstract

This study aims to explain the use and how to edit the inshot video editing application as a learning medium in elementary schools during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method by describing the inshot application to receive an explanation of the use and use of the inshot application in making a video-based learning media. In the current era, digital technology has developed very rapidly in the world, including Indonesia. And this includes education as a result, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. So, the solution given by the government at this time is to carry out the learning process online or remotely, which is generally called online school. And technology at this time has become one of the indispensable tools in using learning media such as the use of inshot applications. because the media has a video editing feature that can help an educator in communicating with students face-to-face through online media. Almost all schools in Indonesia also use learning media that use the inshot application.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of understanding of lecturers and students, especially universities in Indonesia, on the use of alternative media in the form of video conferences in supporting lectures in Indonesia in the midst of the current corona virus (covid-19) outbreak. The alternative media in question are Zoom Meet, Google Meet, Skype, Webex, and Discord, where each of these media has a different function but to achieve the same goal. Able to support lectures in Indonesia in the midst of the corona virus (covid-19) outbreak by using alternative media such as video conferencing. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach where the meaning of the descriptive qualitative approach itself is research that uses qualitative data and then developed descriptively, this type of research is a combination of qualitative and descriptive approaches. The subjects of this study were all lecturers and students at universities in Indonesia, in which it was clear that video conferencing was widely used and played a role in supporting the learning process at the university level in Indonesia in the midst of the corona virus outbreak.

Abstract

In teaching and learning languages, it is common to use code-switching. Code-switching help speaker and hearer share the ability to speak more than one language. This research was focused on the code-switching that was done by the lecturer, the most common type that appeared in the classroom interaction and the function of the code-switching found in the analysis. Descriptive qualitative research was applied in this research which the data got from the interaction of the lecturer and students in the classroom in teaching and learning English for Arabic students. Based on the analysis, in the classroom interaction, the three types of code-switching was found; tag-switching, inter-sentential switching and intra-sentential (Romaine, 1995). The most common type found in the interaction was intra-sentential switching. The used of code-switching in the classroom interaction was to improve language skills, give clarification, emphasis the topic, and make good relation with interlocutor that was the Arabic students. Both teachers and students in this situation hold positive attitudes in doing code switching.
