Abstract

Mathematics is a subject that must be studied by students from elementary to high school level. One of the main goals of learning mathematics is that students are able to solve problems in everyday life. Mathematical problems that use sentences are very difficult especially for those who lack ability. Therefore it is necessary to identify the location of the mistakes made by students in solving mathematical story problems. The principle of problem solving that can be used is the Polya model. The research design used in this study is descriptive qualitative research. This research was conducted at the third semester PGMI IAIN Metro. There are still many errors in understanding the story, so it is recommended to use the model in this problem.
