Abstract

When a brand will communicate with people through visual media, then a visual communication designer will act as the sender in meaningful visual. A vehicle product assurance, Autocillin, will launch its brand; therefore it needs to presence visual identity of Autocillin, which is able to change people’s perception about assurance and also to represent brand image according to its ideals and hopes with its philosophy. Research method uses theory approach of semiotic theory from Peirce with its developing on icon, index and symbol. It also uses semiotic theory from Charles Morris of its semiotic processes: syntax, semantic, and pragmatic; and Roland Barthes approach of semiotic analysis towards design. It will be concluded that through visual identity, Autocillin could answer needs in communicating unprecedented experience of its consumers and change people’s perception of vehicle assurance. Through sign approach, Autocillin is ready to interact and compete with other brands.

Abstract

Buletin BINUS is a communication medium that connects Binusian, contains information about events held at BINUS. Figures of this bulletin is BINUS University, either through the appearance and content of the newsletter itself, where the messages contained in explicit and implicit  so that eventually will form a picture or image in the mind of the reader. This study examines the function and aesthetics in a format specific BULETIN which was published in 2008 and 2009. Reviewes carried out refers to the disciplines of Visual Communication Design. The purpose and benefits of this research is to use scientific and practical layout Buletin BINUS University and research results in the form of suggestions are ideal application of design elements for publication Buletin BINUS University, which is based on ease of implementation, the function of information, the effectiveness of media communications, and aesthetics. It is expected that the information in it will be delivered properly, can bring out the character right BINUS University and establish a positive image in the mind of the reader.

Abstract

Indramayu ornaments that are painted on Jakarta’s pedicabs have an exotic impression and a special attraction to the foreign tourists. The decorative ornament has the potential to be a valuable asset for the improvement of Indonesia art and design. The study was conducted with a qualitative research method of determining the location of culture through the stages of research, determination of informants, data collection and data analysis that were done by organizing, sorting, classifying and categorizing the data. Categorization is done based on the body parts of tricycles and obtained a variety of motives according to the space of placement the ornaments. By documenting and studying these ornaments, it can be improved due to nowaday needs, which would certainly enriches Indonesian decorative ornaments and utilized in broader needs.

Abstract

Syahdan Small Medium Enterprises (SME) map around the campus BINUS Syahdan Syahdan precisely along the streets and alleys that connect with it, ranging from Seven-Eleven to Circle K, which has become the backbone of student activities on campus so as to facilitate students in accessing the small business as well as media liaison for SMEs to communicate with the target market. The research was conducted referring to the science of Visual Communication Design Discipline. The purpose and benefits of this research is to use scientific and practical the SME Map of Jalan Syahdan and research results in the form of advice which are based on Cognitive Principle for ID member, Communication Principles for ID member, which is based on ease of implementation, the function of information for ID, which will tell us the effectiveness of media communications, and aesthetics. It is expected that the information in it will be delivered properly, can bring out the character right BINUS University and establish a positive image in the mind of the reader. In the results of this study will be presented the data and advice needed as a reference by them who will develop the SME Map of Jalan Syahdan.

Abstract

Ngayogyakarta Negari Exhibition 2012 is part of the Festival of Arts 2012 Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat Negari held in commemoration of the 2.5-century founding of Ngayogyakarta and 100 years of the birth of Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono IX, followed by 124 artists Yogyakarta, both painting, photography, sculpture, audio visual, and installation as well which displayed the works of Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono IX and Yogyakarta themed. Jogja International work sculpture by sculpture artist, Dunadi, is one of the few works of sculpture on display in this activity, similar to superhero Spider-Man but wearing blangkon and sarong. In addition to its large size and white color, which makes it interesting sculpture to be observed, studied and discussed is this artwork has conveyed symbolic, metaphoric, and typical parodik messages of Yogyakarta people. This discussion was done through art criticism and aesthetic theory in which the implementation of theories is very broad in the domain art and design. Although the artwork discussed did not pertain directly to the the domain of Visual Communication Design, sensitivity to social issues, creative approach, and beautiful execution Dunadi artist was expected to add experience and insight into the art of the artists and designers in Indonesia.

Abstract

Year of 2011 was a special year for the people of Indonesia with ASEAN ParaGames held in Solo on December 12th to December 20th. Solo held ASEAN Paralympic Games in 2011 in the month of December. These special moments were used by Aikon Media, ADGI (Asosisasi Graphic Designers Indonesia), and DKV BINUS to organize a poster exhibition with works by students and lecturers of DKV BINUS University, DKV UNS Solo and Solo ADGI chapter called "Design for the disabled". The messages on the poster were addressed to the public, particularly people with disabilities who are called by "the difable" with the objective of improving people's appreciation of the difable. So that, the resulting confidence higher to those who can then deliver them to better performance. The study was conducted to see the visual signs contained in the poster work of students DKV BINUS semester 3 done by using the theory of semiotics. It can be concluded that  the communication with empathy for the disabled is the main one, and then conveyed through visual signs that have meaning and can be accepted and understood by the audience.

Abstract

AbstractA Study of Infographic National Museum of Indonesia. Currently the National Museum of Indonesia (MNI) is revitalizing the museum towards the vision of “Museum of Indonesian Culture with International Level”. Through the exhibition “Be Indonesia”museum manager seeks to capture input from residents and experts. Various sourcesof information describing Indonesian culture are displayed, to convey the message tothe target audience through the information material in the form of graphic panels.Target communication of school students as a place to learn to understand the historyand local wisdom that make up the culture. Qualitative research methods by auditingvisualization of exhibit infographic materials on graphic panels, listing the conformitybetween the visual presented with the content or the content of the message, as wellas the context. Through this research is expected to be obtained a study on how theinfographical conditions presented on the show Exhibition Flow of MNI Story basedon DKV scholarship. The results of the research are recommendations aimed at MNImanagers in the form of panels graphic templates, is expected to be an input in preparingpermanent exhibition “Be Indonesia” for the new MNI. AbstrakKajian Infografis Museum Nasional Indonesia. Saat ini Museum NasionalIndonesia (MNI) sedang melakukan revitalisasi museum menuju ke arah visi “Museum Kebudayaan Indonesia Bertaraf Internasional”. Melalui Pameran “Jadilah Indonesia” pengelola museum berupaya menjaring masukan dari warga dan para ahli. Berbagai sumber informasi yang menggambarkan kebudayaan Indonesia ditampilkan, untuk menyampaikan pesan kepada target pemirsanya melalui materi informasi dalam bentuk panil-panil grafis. Target komunikasi siswa sekolah sebagai tempat belajar untuk memahami sejarah serta kearifan lokal yang membentuk kebudayaan. Metode penelitian kualitatif dengan cara mengaudit visualisasi materi infografis pameran padapanil grafis, mendata kesesuaian antara visual yang disajikan dengan konten atau isi pesan, serta konteksnya. Melalui penelitian ini diharapkan akan diperoleh kajian mengenai bagaimana kondisi infografis yang disajikan pada display Pameran Alur Kisah MNI berdasarkan keilmuan DKV. Hasil penelitian adalah rekomendasi ditujukan untuk pengelola MNI berupa template panil grafis, diharapkan dapat menjadi masukandalam mempersiapkan pameran tetap Alur Kisah untuk MNI yang baru.
