Millennial Multiliteracy Genre Handbook Model to Improve English Student’s Achievement Rudi Permadi

Abstract

It focusses on improving student’s English achievement assisted by media namely millennial multiliteracy genre handbook model. It plays research and development model consisting of 6 stages, as follows (1) preliminary study; (2) research planning; (3) product design; (4) product validation; (5) product trials carried out at three stages of the individual, small, and limited scaled and; (6) the final product. Three different colleges (STAI Tasikmalaya, LP3I Tasikmalaya and Politeknik Triguna Tasikmalaya) becomes the places obtaining the data. The media validation result by the book expert obtained 84.6% and by the material expert resulted 85.3%. The developed media was valid and did not need any revision. The research finds that the total students’ respond on individual scale is 81 %, the total students’ respond on small scale is 79 %, and the total students’ respond on limited scale is 82%. It indicates that millennial multiliteracy genre handbook model strongly valid and it can be used as media to teach English at colleges or universities level. Furthermore, millennial multiliteracy genre handbook model gives positive contribution on the students’ English learning achievement because the significant level is 0.000 less than 0.5.

Abstract

Recently, the upcoming era, namely industry revolution 4.0 becomes trend topic and big issues. It has many roles in aspects of life. It can be recognized in teaching and learning process also. English practitioners, both teachers and students, should involve and master technology to improve their English capability or skills as the consequently. The research plays technology as a message of industry revolution 4.0 to encounter English teaching problem. The objective of the research is to find the effect of online literary text usage on the students’ reading comprehension. The research methodology is using experiment with a factorial design. Data collection is obtained by examining reading comprehension test. One paired sample t-test acts to analyze the data. The number of sample is 40 students of 50 population number at Islamic studies program Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam academic year 2017/2018. Random sampling works as technique of taking the sample. Data calculation and analysis shows that Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) =0.000 less than Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) < 0.05 explaining that H0 is rejected. It means that there is a significant effect of online literary text on the students’ reading comprehension. Seeing the research result, it is suggested to English practitioners, both teachers and students, keep in touch online literary text to improve the students’ reading comprehension

Abstract

Komunitas akademis baik stakeholders pendidikan maupun guru di Kecamatan Karangnunggal Kabupaten Tasikmalaya menemukan kesulitan dalam efektifitas pelaksanaan evaluasi pembelajaran. Kesulitan pertama adalah cara pembuatan aplikasi prototype ujian nasional berbasis komputer. Kesulitan kedua adalah cara pemeriksaan hasil evaluasi pembelajaran dengan bantuan aplikasi. Konsekuensi logis akibat tidak memahami cara pembuatan aplikasi prototype ujian nasional berbasis komputer guru akan bingung membimbing siswa nanti dalam pelaksanaan ujian nasional. Selain itu, mereka akan kehilangan banyak waktu akibat memeriksa ujian karena menggunakan cara manual dan tensi eror hasil pemeriksaan dimungkinkan tinggi akibat kelelahan atau ketidakcermatan. Tujuan dari pelatihan dan pendampingan ini adalah membantu guru dalam membuat aplikasi prototype ujian nasional berbasis komputer dengan bantuan kombinasi google formulir dan whats app yang fungsinya tidak hanya bisa memberikan gambaran mengenai flow chart program ujian nasional tetapi bisa digunakan untuk pembuatan aplikasi evaluasi pembuatan sehari-hari ataupun tes semester. Tujuan lain adalah untuk membantu guru dalam memeriksa hasil evaluasi pembelajaran secara otomatis. Metode yang digunakan adalah pelatihan dan pendampingan pelatihan pembuatan display evaluasi pembelajaran dengan menggunakan kombinasi google formulir dan whats app dan bagaimana cara membaca hasil ujian siswa serta interpretasi statistika otomatis dari display evaluasi pembelajaran tersebut. Hasil dari pelatihan dan pendampingan ini guru-guru memahami praktik pembuatan aplikasi untuk display evaluasi pembelajaran seperti ujian nasional berbasis komputer dan juga mereka bisa membaca output hasil evaluasi pembelajaran secara otomatis.
