Abstract

Phenomenological perspective is one of the approaches in archaeology especially applies to the use of sensory experiences of the past peoples through material cultures. Phenomenological approaches is based of some German philosopher such as Edmund Husserl, MartinHeidegger which put their attention to perceptions and knowledge which are based on experience of daily lives. Phenomenological approach have been produces a great impact through some works of archaeologist especialy from the group of Post-Procesualist such as Christian Tilley and others in attempt to interpretated the landscape phenomenon in Britain archaeological sites. In relations with that, the phenomenology approaches will be used to analysed the groups of megaliths chambers in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (northern Germany) according to the cosmological significance.ABSTRAKPenomenologi adalah salah satu pendekatan yang digunakan dalam arkeolologi terutama dalam menganalisa ‘experience’ atau pengalaman manusia pada masa lalu melalui budaya material yang ditinggalkan. Pendekatan ini diadopsi dari filosof Jerman seperti: Edmund Husserl dan Martin Heidegger yang menekankan bahwa esensi dari presepsi manusia adalah terletak pada ‘pengalaman’ yang ditemukan di setiap hari. Pendekatan ini kemudian diadopsi oleh arkeolog terutama yang berasal dari grup Post-prosesualis seperti Christian Tilley dan lainnya terutama dalam menginterpretasikan arkeologi landskap. Merujuk pada hal ini, megalitik di Mecklenburg-Vorpommern diindikasikan sebagai ‘buah’ dari pengalaman oleh manusia pada masa lalu dalam menginterpretasikan alam sekitar mereka terutama dalam hubungannya dengan kosmologi.

Abstract

Cowrie shells and pork was instrumental in the life of tribes in Papua. Shellfish and pork cowries used as a medium of exchange, dowry, and death rituals. This paper aims to describe the relationship with the coastal areas of the mountainous region of Papua, as well as the influence of Lapita in the mountains. Data collected by literature study and qualitative descriptive analysis. Shellfish and pork cowries were introduced by Austronesian speakers to the indigenous people in the mountains of Papua. ABSTRAKKerang cowrie dan babi sangat berperan dalam kehidupan suku-suku di pegunungan Papua. Kerang cowrie dan babi digunakan sebagai alat tukar, mas kawin, dan ritual kematian. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keterkaitan wilayah pesisir Papua dengan wilayah pegunungan, serta pengaruh Lapita di pegunungan. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan studi pustaka dan analisis deskriptif kualitatif. Kerang cowries dan babi diperkenalkan oleh penutur Austronesia kepada penduduk asli di pegunungan Papua.

Abstract

The discovery of stone tools in prehistoric sites in the central highlands of Papua, especially in the Pegunungan Bintang and Jayawijaya show about prehistoric evidence of human culture in the past. Besides the presence of lytic tool is supported also by the availability of materials, such as in the Pegunungan Bintang and Jayawijaya are very rich in various types of rocks, especially sedimentary rocks such as limestone and chert, and other types of igneous rocks such as andesite. This is makes it possible for human in the past in making stone tools used in their various activities such as hunting and gathering food.

Abstract

Migration by Tionghoa ethnic from the Chinese mainland especially southern part to the districts Yapen Waropen was in order to trade at that time,yapen is very famous with the wonderful products such as bird of paradise feathers, crocodile leather, and other excellent products that famous at that time. In the next stage, tionghoa ethnic marrying woman of yapen. This is done to facilitate them in obtaining merchandise from the Yapen people. Marriage between ethnic of tionghoa and yapen woman, produce offspring called Peranakan Chinese Serui (Prancis), Serui is the first name of Yapen.

Abstract

Exchange of goods that eventually led to trade in the coastal areas and central highlands of Papua occur because of increased demand for commodities. It is also caused by the influence of the contact that occurred between the inhabitants papua papua with residents from the outside. The exchange of goods conducted in Papua between the tribes who live in coastal regions and tribes in the mountainous areas in the beginning is made very simple without the use of a medium of exchange, ie, mutual exchange of goods with goods that are considered necessary by each party to the transaction in a place which been agreed. Then on the next period, then the familiar medium of exchange in transactions that ultimately the emergence of trade. This occurred after the entry of some of the influences brought by the party who began to explore commodities - commodities such as birds of paradise in Papua, masohi woods, slaves and other commodities. As for the goods as a means to exchange commodities mentioned above, among others: the goods are made from bronze, ceramic, metal, cloth of timor, and others. Along with the inclusion of these objects to the Papuans, the tribe - the tribal papua then started using some tools, which have value in their own trade, among others: stone axes, seashells, beads and others who until now is still used mainly in traditional ceremonies like marriage

Abstract

Stone bracelet, stone axe and beads are the three most valuable things for the Sentani ethnic group shown from the used of those three things on their rites and ceremony activities. The belief system that they keep and applied on their myths and customary law has made the bracelet, axe and beads have the important role for the implementation of the rites. The practical and magical function of these things depicts the culture of Sentani, a tribe which is still holding their cultural values which has become the precious legacy from the past.

A lot of world II remains was laid on Youtefa bay, a long time ago the the battle between Japan allied was happed here. Now this place is really anxious because the world war II remains are lost into the sea and some part of the battle ship are stole. This problem maybe solve with preservation and conservation because this place is potential to be a tourism place and can give a contribution for the public and real government.
