Abstract

Dezh Mountain site is the site occupancy of Japanese colonial period in Kampung Solol, Salawati, where the site of Mount Dezh describe Japan’s political strategy in the control of Papua. As for the archaeological remains found on this site in the form of foundation of the house, ceramic fragments, and fragments bicycle rim. Other archaeological findings were found in the location of Kampung Solol are tools factory. This research was conducted with the aim of knowing the forms of archaeological remains on the site of Mount Dezh and know the function of the archaeological remains. The method used in this study is the observation, literature and interviews ABSTRAKSitus Gunung Dezh adalah situs hunian masa kolonial Jepang di Kampung Solol, Pulau Salawati, keberadaan situs Gunung Dezh menggambarkan strategi politik Jepang dalam menguasai Papua. adapun tinggalan arkeologi yang ditemukan pada situs ini berupa fondasi rumah, fragmen keramik, dan fragmen pelek sepeda. Temuan arkelogi lainnya yang ditemukan di lokasi Kampung Solol adalah alat-alat pabrik. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan mengetahui bentuk-bentuk tinggalan arkeologi di situs Gunung Dezh dan mengetahui fungsi dari tinggalan arkeologi tersebut. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi lapangan, studi pustaka dan wawancara.

Abstract

Ceramic plates are used as stock Napan Wainami grave by the community, the process is carried out in a funeral rite that is characterized by solving the ceramic plates on the tomb of the dead bodies. Form of burial rites is devoted to every firstborn of men and women. This rite describes the emotional relationship between parents (father and mother) and the eldest son, in which the eldest child in a family inheritance priority, so a form of homage to solve the ceramic plates should be done as an expression of affection. Associated with the description of the Objectives to be disclosed in this paper was to determine the shape and type of ceramic that is used in funeral rites and the meaning contained in the use of ceramics as stock grave. In answering the research objective research method used was etnoarkeologi approach, field surveys, interviews and a literature review.AbstrakPiring Keramik digunakan sebagai bekal kubur oleh masyarakat Napan Wainami, proses ini dilakukan dalam suatu ritus penguburan yang ditandai dengan memecahkan piring keramik diatas makam dari Jasad orang mati. Bentuk ritus penguburan ini dikhususkan untuk setiap anak sulung laki-laki dan perempuan. Ritus ini menggambarkan hubungan emosional antara orang tua (ayah dan ibu) dan anak sulung, dimana anak sulung mendapat prioritas dalam warisan keluarga, sehingga bentuk penghormatan dengan memecahkan piring keramik patut dilakukan sebagai ungkapan kasih sayang. Terkait dengan uraian tersebut maka Tujuan yang ingin diungkapkan dalam penulisan ini adalah mengetahui bentuk dan jenis keramik yang digunakan dalam ritus penguburan serta mengetahui makna yang terkandung didalam pemanfaatan keramik sebagai bekal kubur. Dalam menjawab tujuan penelitian maka metode penelitian yang gunakan adalah pendekatan etnoarkeologi, survei lapangan, wawancara dan kajian pustaka.

Abstract

Burial in caves and niches on the Web is a prehistoric tradition continues. The tradition has been entrenched so that people in the process of implementation of the burial sites in caves and niches, often perform ritual dances accompanied by traditional feast. Archaeological evidence of burial traditions in the caves and niches are the archaeological remains in the form of human skulls, container crates, and the provision of the grave in the form of a dinner plate, bowl to drink, where betel lime, necklaces, camshaft, arrows, dogs and skull cow skull. Burial site in the caves and niches in Kampung District Yuruf Web can be encountered on how the site is the burial cave caves Yadumblu, Jigiyaw niche, niche Gumumblu 2, and complex cave site Yanglebi comprising caves, alcoves and cliffs.

Abstract

The Process of vessels making in Mansinam site was not far too different with other places in Indonesia: using clay as the basic material. The vessel making was a woman’s work, started from clay gathering to firing process. Based on the observation of the edge shape, it is predicted that the vessels found in Mansinam Island belongs to the type of pot. The observation on the core shows that on the process of making, the firing was opened and not spread evenly. Pot was used for cooking and keeping food. The vessels from Mansinan Island has spread vast through trade and barter to Wandamen coastal area, Biak Numfor islands, Bird’s Head Peninsula coastal areas and Raja Ampat Islands.

Abstract

The existence of rock art in Keerom area is very interesting to study because located in the border area between Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. The Purpose of this Papua is to determine the different forms of rock art in Keerom area regarding to the function and its meaning in the past and also in order to build. An understanding of the culture in the border region. The method used in this study consist of literature studies field observations and interview and use morphological and piktoral in the analysis processed. The result showed about the form of figurative and non figurative painting on cave walls, especially in the Web and Kibay sites. The meaning of the rock art associated with a symbol of religy and as a symbol of social comunications. The role of the rock arts shows about identify and also has and important meaning in an attempt to preserve the indigenous territories. Penelitian tentang lukisan dinding gua di Keerom yang berbatasan dengan Papua Niugini menarik untuk dikaji. Informasi dari masyarakat menyebutkan bahwa di wilayah perbatasan banyak lukisan dinding gua yang belum diteliti secara mendalam. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ragam bentuk lukisan dinding gua di Keerom, fungsi dan makna lukisan dining gua tersebut bagi masyarakat pendukungnya serta peran lukisan dinding gua dalam mempertahankan wilayah perbatasan Indonesia. Metode penelitian yag digunakan yaitu pengumpulan data berupa studi kepustakaan, observasi lapangan dan wawancara. Pengolahan data meliputi analisis morfologi, analisis teknologi dan cara perekaman piktorial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bentuk lukisan dinding gua di Web dan Kibay yaitu lukisan figuratif dan non figuratif. Hasil karya seni tersebut merupakan himpunan simbol-simbol atau lambang-lambang yang mengandung nilai kehidupan. Makna lukisan adalah makna religi, komunikasi dan sosial. Peran lukisan dinding gua adalah sebagai tradisi berlanjut, jati diri dan mempertahankan wilayah adat.
