<![CDATA[Abstrak: Penelitian ini berjudul “Komunikasi Interpersonal Mahasiswa Kepada Dosen (Studi Aprehensif Komunikasi Mahasiswa Saat Bimbingan Skripsi Kepada Dosen Pembimbing di Universitas Syiah Kuala)”. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana komunikasi interpersonal serta faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi ketakutan komunikasi mahasiswa saat bimbingan skripsi kepada dosen pembimbing. Subjek pada penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa sebagai informan utama berjumlah 12 orang dan dosen sebagai informan pendukung berjumlah 3 orang pada Universitas Syiah Kuala. Penelitian ini menggunakan Teori Communication Apprehension yang menjelaskan bahwa ketakutan komunikasi pada umumnya menyangkut tiga keadaan. Pertama, Traitlike CA. Kedua, Generalized-Context CA. Ketiga, Person-Group CA. Namun penelitian ini hanya mengkaji mengenai Traitlike CA dan Person-Group CA. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Data primer dalam penelitian ini diperoleh melalui metode wawancara, observasi dan dianalisis dengan menggunakan teknik reduksi data, penyajian data serta penarikan kesimpulan dan verifikasi. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa ketika mahasiswa mengalami ketakutan komunikasi pada saat melakukan bimbingan skripsi kepada dosen pembimbingnya, komunikasi interpersonal menjadi tidak efektif karena ketakutan menjadi hambatan yang mengganggu proses penyampaian pesan dari mahasiswa kepada dosen pembimbing. Faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi ketakutan komunikasi tersebut terbagi menjadi faktor internal yaitu faktor kepribadian mahasiswa, persepsi kepada dosen, kurang percaya diri, pengalaman pribadi dan faktor eksternal diantaranya karakteristik dosen, situasi komunikasi, pengalaman mahasiswa lain dan frekuensi pertemuan. Ketakutan komunikasi yang muncul dapat dikenali dari gejala fisik, gejala behavioral dan gejala kognitif.Kata Kunci : Komunikasi Interpersonal, Aprehensif Komunikasi, Mahasiswa, Dosen Students’ Interpersonal Communication toward the Lecturers (The Study of Students’ Communication Apprehension during Thesis Supervision with the Supervisors at Syiah Kuala University) Abstract: This research was entitled "Students’ Interpersonal Communication toward the Lecturers (The Study of Students’ Communication Apprehension during Thesis Supervision with the Supervisors at Syiah Kuala University)". The goal of this study is to know how the interpersonal communication and factors affected the apprehension of students’ communication during thesis guidance to the supervisor. The subjects of this study were 12 college students as the main informant and 3 lecturers as the proponent at the University of Syiah Kuala. The apprehension of communication was used as a theory to explain that the apprehension of communication generally involve of three situations. First, Traitlike CA; Second, Generalized-Context CA; Third, Person-Group CA. However, this study only focused on Traitlike CA and Person-Group CA. This research used descriptive qualitative approach. The primary data in this research was obtained through interview, observation and analyzed by using data reduction, data presentation and conclusion and verification technique. The result of the research showed that when students experience communication apprehension during thesis supervision with their supervisor, interpersonal communication that occurs is less effective because the anxiety has become an obstacle that can disrupt the process of delivering messages from students to supervisors. The factors affecting Communication Apprehension are divided into internal factors, namely student personality factors, perceptions to lecturers, lack of confidence, personal experience and external factors such as the characteristics of lecturers, the situation of communication, other student experiences and the frequency of meeting.
