<![CDATA[ABSTRAK: Kekerasan dalam rumah tangga (KDRT) oleh suami terhadap istri terjadi karena adanya ketidaksetaraan kekuasaan dalam keluarga. Ketidaksetaraan kekuasaan yang terwujud dalam pembagian peran antara laki-laki dan perempuan dipengaruhi oleh norma-norma yang berlaku di masyarakat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menjelaskan bagaimana relasi gender mempengaruhi KDRT oleh suami terhadap istri. Penelitian ini menggunakan Teori Struktural Fungsional serta Metode Deskriptif Kualitatif. Terdapat sepuluh informan yang berpartisipasi dalam penelitian ini. Enam diantaranya berstatus sebagai korban KDRT, sedangkan empat informan kunci lainnya terdiri dari tokoh masyarakat Kabupaten Aceh Utara. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini dengan cara wawancara dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa istri mengalami berbagai bentuk KDRT yaitu kekerasan dalam bentuk fisik, psikis, seksual dan ekonomi serta pembagian peran di ruma tidak setara. Penyebab KDRT oleh suami terhadap istri yaitu karena suami merasa berkuasa atas istri, istri tidak menjalankan fungsi sesuai perannya, adanya orang ketiga. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah adanya pengaruh relasi kuasa yang tidak setara terhadap KDRT oleh suami terhadap istri. ABSTRACT: Domestic violence by husbands against wives happens due to the inequality of rule in the family. Inequality of power embodied in the division of roles between men and women is influenced by the prevailing norms in society. The purpose of this study is to explain how the gender relations influence domestic violence by husband against wives. This research uses Structural-Functional Theory and Qualitative Descriptive Methods. There are ten informants who participated in this study. Six of them have status as victims of domestic violence, while four other key informants consisting of community figure in North Aceh District. Data in this study were collected by interview and documentation. The results showed that the wife suffered various forms of domestic violence physical, psychological, sexual and economic neglect, and division of roles in the home is not equivalent. There are 3 (three) causes of domestic violence by husbands against wives: (1) the husband felt over his wife, (2) the wife does not execute her function of various roles, (3) the presence of third party. As conclusion, there is influence of unequal power relations to domestic violence by husband against wives. ]]>
