Abstract

This study aims to analyze the differences in the improvement of mathematical communication skills and mathematical problem solving of students who are taught using manipulative virtual learning media and physical manipulative learning through project-based learning models (PjBL), as well as analyzing the performance of class VII students of SMP Plus Jabal Rahmah Mulia Medan in solving problems. questions that measure communication skills and mathematical problem solving. Data obtained through subjective tests or essay tests, each of which measures the students' mathematical problem solving and communication skills. Data were analyzed using ANACOVA test. The population in this study were all students of class VIII of the private high school Jabal Rahmam Mulia for the 2020/2021 academic year. While the sample in this study is class VIII1 which is the first experimental class which is taught using manipulative virtual learning media and class VIII2 is the second experimental class which is taught using physical manipulative learning media. Based on the results of the ANACOVA calculation, the analysis results obtained F_hitung = 3,450 ˃ Ftable = 3.38 and with sig = 000, because the significant level is smaller than 0.05 so that H_0 is rejected and H_a is accepted. Thus, there are differences in problem-solving abilities between students who are given a realistic mathematics approach assisted by macromedia flash and students who are given a contextual approach assisted by macromedia flash. Based on the results of the analysis F_count = 20.889 ˃ F table = 3.38 and with sig = 000, because the significant level is smaller than 0.05 so that H_0 is rejected and H_a is accepted. Thus, there are differences in mathematical communication skills between students who are given virtual manipulative assisted project-based learning (PjBL VM) and students who are given physical manipulative assisted project-based learning (PjBL PM).

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the validity and effectiveness of teaching materials developed based on a realistic mathematical approach in improving students 'mathematical reasoning and representation abilities, to analyze the increase in students' reasoning skills and mathematical representation abilities taught using teaching materials based on realistic mathematical approaches. The data were obtained through the validation sheet of teaching materials, observation sheets, student response questionnaires, mathematical reasoning ability test instruments and mathematical representation ability tests. This study uses a 4-D development model Thiagarajan, Semmel and Semmel by developing teaching materials with a realistic mathematical approach. Based on the results of the validation, the total average value of the RPP validity was 4.81, the student books were 4.83 and the LKPD was 4.85, the students' mathematical reasoning ability tests and the mathematical representation ability tests were in the valid category. Classical mastery of learning reaches 90.62% which has met the completeness criteria, namely ≥85% of students have reached the KKM. The increase in students' mathematical reasoning abilities using teaching materials based on a realistic mathematical approach on fraction material seen from N-Gain in the first trial and second trial has increased from 0.36 to 0.50 meaning that it is in the medium category. As well as an increase in the ability of students' mathematical representation using teaching materials based on a realistic mathematical approach on fraction material seen from N-Gain in the first trial and second trial, it increased from 0.43 to 0.50, meaning that it was in the medium category.

Abstract

This study aims to describe whether the increase in mathematical problem solving abilities and Self Efficacy of students who are taught using problem-based learning models is higher than students who are taught with ordinary learning, to describe whether there is an interaction between students' initial mathematical abilities and learning towards increased mathematical problem solving abilities. students, as well as to describe whether there is an interaction between students' initial mathematical abilities and learning towards increasing student Self-Efficacy. Based on the ANOVA 2 x 2 calculation, it is obtained Fcount = 88.82 while the Ftable value = 2.36 for dk (1.62) and a significant level of 5%. It turns out that the value of Fcount> Ftable, so that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Then from table 4. The probability value (sig) is smaller than 0.05 so that H0 is rejected. Thus it can be concluded that the results of students' mathematical problem-solving abilities taught by problem-based learning models are better than those taught with ordinary learning models. The results of students' Self Efficacy in the problem-based learning model class were higher than in the ordinary learning model class. This can also be seen from the average results of the mathematics Self Efficacy questionnaire of students with the experimental class (99.7) which are higher than the average results of the mathematics Self Efficacy questionnaire of students with the control class (96.8). The results of students' Self Efficacy in the problem-based learning model class were higher than in the ordinary learning model class. This can also be seen from the average results of the mathematics Self Efficacy questionnaire of students with the experimental class (99.7) which are higher than the average results of the mathematics Self Efficacy questionnaire of students with the control class (96.8).X ̅=X ̅=

Abstract

This study aims to determine the difficulties experienced by students and to determine the level of mathematical problem solving ability of grade VIII students of SMP N 1 Blue – Blue. In this study using qualitative descriptive method. The population in this study was the entire class VIII of SMP Negeri 1 Biru – Biru consisting of 6 classes whose total students were 183 students. while the sampling in this study was as suggested by the teacher, namely class VIII-1 whose number of students was 31 students where there were 3 subjects whose subjects were selected based on high, medium, and low ability levels. The material used in this study is the Two Variable Linear Equation System (SPLDV). As a research instrument, test result data is used in the form of essay tests on SPLDV material, where each question amounts to 3 questions and has been validated by mathematics lecturers. The results of the analysis obtained are based on written tests conducted in class VIII-1. Subjects who have a high level of ability are able to answer questions well and only experience slight obstacles in calculating operations, but can be corrected by these subjects, subjects who have a moderate level of ability are able to understand problems and determine variables but have difficulty translating problems into mathematical sentences, err in operations so that they are wrong in calculations. Subjects who have a low level of ability are able to understand problems and determine variables but are unable to understand problems on varied problems. The subject has not been able to sort the information on the problem, and the subject has difficulty identifying the information on the problem and the formulas used to create the mathematical model. The subject does not master the principle of operation of algebra. The subject has not been able to complete correctly, the subject made some mistakes and was not careful in calculations.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine and describe the effect of open ended learning with the help of gooole classroom on the ability to understand mathematical concepts of students of Junior High School Negeri 1 bar Hilir. The population in this study is the entire class VIII Junior High School Negeri 1 bar Hilir which consists of 7 classes whose total number of students is 145 students. While the sampling in the study as suggested by the teacher is Class VIII-3 as an experimental class and VIII-4 as a control Class of 15 students. As a research instrument, pre-test and post-test result data is used in the form of essay test on Relation and function material, where each question is 4 questions and has been validated by mathematics lecturer. The test used in this study is the Right t-test. After the management of statistical data t-test the right party obtained that tcount = 2,006 dan ttable = 1,70 then tcount > ttable or 2,006 > 1,70. This means accepting Ha dan decline H0 Based on the results of the t-test, it can be concluded that there is an effect of the use of open ended learning approach assisted by google classroom on the understanding of mathematical concepts of Junior High School Negeri 1 bar Hilir students.
